Passions: basketball, competition, family and friends, helping others
The day I visited Holy Cross, I knew it was the place I needed to be. I would be able to play Division I basketball, study, make a difference on campus, and enjoy being with such great people from so many different backgrounds. I’m fascinated by those kinds of differences, so maybe that’s why I decided to major in sociology. In my Sociological Perspective class, the final project was to look at our own lives in terms of society. I explored how factors such as race, education, and culture have influenced who I am. By minoring in chemistry, I’ll also have a strong background in the sciences to prepare me for reaching my goal of becoming a pharmacist.
I’m on the House Council for Clark Hall, and we take a lot of pride in making it our home on campus. The Fellowship of Christian Athletes helps me connect sports with my life as a Christian. Another highlight has been participating as a Gateways orientation leader.
Playing varsity basketball at Holy Cross is a real time management challenge. Academic work comes first, and we need to fit practices, conditioning, and travel for games around it. It was mind-blowing my first year when I tried to figure out how to get everything done. I learned a lot from older players and Coach Willard, who supports us in our academics, not just in athletics. No matter how tough it gets, I’m motivated by my passion for the game and for competition.
