Student Programs & Involvement Summer Intern

The Student Programs & Involvement (SPI) Summer Intern serves in assistance to the professional staff in implementing and coordinating a variety of office initiatives and operations.  Responsible for projects such as the RSO leadership development initiatives, office transition and planning, this student will enable the office to continue basic operations, prepare for the next school year, and design new programs to better serve the student population. 

Although the SPI Summer Intern primarily work with and report to the Director of SPI, the intern help with projects as assigned by all SPI professional staff members.

Job Responsibilities:  Although the SPI Summer Intern provides a variety of services to the Office of SPI, primary responsibilities consist of the following:

  • Analyze and provide recommendations concerning financial and event planning paperwork and processes
  • Update/redesign the Recognized Student Organization (RSO) Manual
  • Provide input regarding office operation efficiency
  • Assist in designing RSO training initiatives including fall RSO training and the SPI Newsletter (The SPIN)
  • Collaborate with SGA Interns on various projects
  • Perform basic office tasks and other duties as assigned

Location: Worcester, MA

Time Commitment:  This internship is a 10 week, 40 hours per week position.  Starting and ending dates will be mutually agreed upon dates between the intern and the site supervisor.

Compensation:  The Student Life Summer Intern will receive a wage of $8.50 per hour, a $500 meal plan, and possible housing option.

Qualifications:  Class of 2010 or 2011.

Basic Expectations:
Attire – Interns are expected to wear clean clothes in good condition which are appropriate for the office.  For examples, clothes with holes, inappropriate messages, and alcohol advertisements as well as short skirts or revealing shirts may not be worn in the office.
Attendance – Interns are expected to be on time to every shift.  If an employee is going to be late, s/he must notify an office professional and provide an approximate time when s/he will arrive.  If an employee is ill or has an expected absence, s/he must notify an office professional.  Any unexcused absences or repeated tardiness will result in corrective action.
