Organic Chemistry Internships

We are looking for motivated interns who desire a career in organic chemistry.  Positions offered are 12-week assignments that begin in either May or June of 2008.  Each intern will be assigned a project, which will allow him/her to actively contribute to the company and build understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and Eli Lilly and Company. Interns will interact with other professionals, including exposure to Lilly senior management. Professional development and social events will be held throughout the summer. Accomplishments will be presented during a poster session that will be scheduled during the duration of the internship.

KEY OBJECTIVES/DELIVERABLES:

  • Provide practical solutions to a real-world project
  • Work individually with supervisor to determine and achieve project goals
  • Document and present project accomplishments at a poster session

Qualifications:  Class of 2009.  Chemistry Major

  • Must have a GPA of  at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.  Eli Lilly and Company does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS/PREFERENCES:

  • Strong skills in problem assessment/analysis, communication (written and oral), and teamwork
  • Knowledge of reaction set-up, product purification, and analytical techniques for product characterization
