Biochemistry Summer Intern

Description:    Infinity Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is an innovative drug discovery company focused on discovering, developing and delivering to patients best-in-class medicines for the treatment of cancer and related conditions. Founded in 2001, the company currently has three drug candidates in clinical trials and is aggressively pursuing a robust pipeline of early discovery projects. Infinity is a small but fully integrated drug discovery company with capabilities ranging from early discovery to clinical sciences. Through a series of strategic alliances, Infinity is in a position to independently fund the development and commercialization of its drug candidates.

We are looking for a highly motivated student, who is seeking laboratory experience working with a biochemistry team. The individual should have prior lab experience and/or prior research internship experience. The individual should work well in a goal orientated environment and must be a keen experimentalist with good quantitative skills and an ability to analyze data.

We are investigating the Heat Shock 90 (Hsp90) pathway and it’s relation to the pathogenesis of cancer. Projects will include study of drug mechanism of action using a variety of biochemical techniques. This student may also help support the development of radioactive cell-based assays to characterize the activity of Infinity’s Hsp90 inhibitors in vitro. This will be a paid summer internship opportunity from June through mid August.

Requirements:  Class of 2010 or 2011. 
Previous Laboratory experience:

  • SDS gels and western blots.
  • Protein concentration determinations via absorbance spectroscopy
  • ELISA
  • enzymatic microtiter plate assays.
  • Experience in the use of radioisotopes.
  • Cell and tissue culture experience
