• Avon Foundation Awards Celebration
• Avon Walk Around the World for Breast Cancer (WAWBC)
• Non-Event Fundraising Activities for Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence
• Donor Tracking System

Internship Project Description - Avon Foundation Awards Celebration
This position includes ownership of fundamental and integral Avon Foundation Awards Celebration projects. The Awards Celebration is the Avon Foundation’s largest annual gala event which raises over $2 million dollars. Projects are aimed to both give experience in the areas of event production and fundraising.

  • Create Avon Foundation Awards Celebration gift bag. Liaise with internal Avon departments to secure in-kind donation of gift bag production and contents, design bag and manage delivery.
  • Responsible for donor database in preparation for fundraising solicitation campaign. Includes updating donor contacts and donor research.
  • Coordinate and oversee one large-scale solicitation mailing including letter writing, mail merge process and shipping. 

Other Position Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Foundation fundraising staff:

  • Assist with the Avon Walk Around the World for Breast Cancer program
  • Assist with projects or details related to Avon Walk Around the World for Breast Cancer program as needed
  • Work on other revenue streams for Foundation
  • Internet fundraising
  • Research relationships that can further promote the image of the Avon Foundation and educate their constituents on Foundation fundraising efforts
  • Sales of fundraising products through Avon Sales Representatives and third party co-ventures
  • Additional Office Support

Salary:  $12/hour

Internship Dates:  May - August, 2008.

Location:  New York,  NY

Qualifications:  Class of 2009 or 2010.  You must be admitted to the Summer Internship Program to apply for this internship.

Candidate must possess:
• Minimum 1-2 years experience in working for nonprofit organizations.
• Exceptional writing, editing, messaging, and oral communication skills to reach a variety of different audiences.
