Legal Intern

The intern will work for a captive law firm in insurance defense law:

  • Learn to answer summons and complaint
  • Lean basic motion practice
  • Do basic summary judgement motions
  • In second part of internship, observe courtroom pretrial and trial conferences
  • Possible trial observation

The intern will complete paperwork of basic insurance defense. The firm represents insureds against plaintiffs who are suing insureds from the first suit to the final trial. The intern will be exposed to the liability and damages and will get heavily involved in paperwork including motions and crossmotions.

With 30 years in the Insurance Industry, our expertise is in commercial automobile, primarily serving the New York City and metro area. Our Underwriting facilities principally provide for the handling of commercial automobile liability and commercial auto physical damage insurance on risks such as automobile dealerships, garages, taxicabs, and company fleets. Manual rates are charged and business is produced through approximately 167 brokerage firms. ATIC currently staffs over 350 employees.

Qualifications: Class of 2009 or 2010. You must be admitted to the Summer Internship Program to apply for this internship.

Compensation: $10 per hour plus transit vouchers for commuting
