March 14, 2007 ‘When Greek Was an African Language’ Subject of Classics Talk at Holy CrossWORCESTER, Mass. – Stanley M. Burstein, professor emeritus of ancient history at California State University at Los Angeles, will give a talk titled “When Greek Was an African Language” on March 21 at 4:30 p.m. in Room 402 of the Hogan Campus Center at the College of the Holy Cross. The event is free and open to the public. Burstein is a widely recognized expert on ancient Greek history, especially concerning the period after Alexander the Great and the interaction of Greek culture with the cultures of the eastern Mediterranean region, including Egypt and neighboring regions.
