Peace and Conflict Studies Spring Events at Holy Cross
WORCESTER, Mass. – The College of the Holy Cross'
Peace and Conflict Studies Program announces its
spring semester calendar of events. All event
are free and open to the public.
Monday, Feb. 4
4 p.m., Rehm Library, Smith Hall
Father Roy Bourgeois will speak about "School
of the Americas, School of Assassins."
Bourgeois founded School of the Americas Watch
after learning that a number of Salvadoran soldiers
responsible for the murder of six Jesuit priests
in 1989 were graduates of the school.
Thursday, Feb. 21
7 p.m., Browsing Room, Dinand Library
Dr. Len Lipner will tell "The Third Secret,"
a story about confronting the evil within.
Lipner teaches mathematics at Clark University;
he was the chair of the National Story-Telling
Conference at Brown University, held in 2001.
Monday, March 25
4 p.m., Rehm Library, Smith Hall
Prof. Jovan Babic will deliver a lecture titled
"Evil and Pacifism."
Babic teaches ethics at the University of Belgrade,
Yugoslavia; he is currently a visiting professor
at the Portland State University. He has written
and edited several books on ethics in the contemporary
world, war, and collective responsibility for
war crimes.
