Holy Cross Teams Advance in League TournamentsIn men’s basketball, junior guard Keith Simmons scored 20 points to lead the men's basketball team to a 73-66 victory over Lehigh at the Hart Center, in the semifinals of the Patriot League Tournament. The Crusaders improve to 20-11 on the season with the victory, and advance to the conference championship game on Friday, March 10. Holy Cross will play at Bucknell in a 4:30 p.m. contest which will be shown live on ESPN2. In women’s basketball, sophomore point guard Laura Aloisi poured in a career-high 21 points to lead the women's basketball team to a 64-60 win over Bucknell in the Patriot League semifinals at the Hart Center. The second-seeded Crusaders improve to 16-13 overall and advance to the conference championship game where they will face top-seeded Army on Wed., March 8 at 7 p.m., in West Point, N.Y. In men’s hockey, senior Pierre Napert-Frenette scored the game-winning goal with just 1:03 left in the game as the men's hockey team defeated Bentley, 3-2, in Atlantic Hockey action at the Hart Center. With the win, the Crusaders win the Atlantic Hockey regular season championship for the second time in three seasons. The Crusaders improve to 23-9-2 overall (19-7-2 AHA). No. 1 Holy Cross will now host No. 8 AIC in the Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 11, at the Hart Center at 7 p.m. Holy Cross will also host the semifinals and finals at the Hart Center on March 17-18. |
