Nativity School Executive Director
Nativity
Preparatory School-Worcester is
a new, Catholic, inner-city middle school
that will open in September of 2003
and is sponsored by the Society of Jesus
of New England and the College of the
Holy Cross. The Trustees seek to hire
an Executive Director to begin his or
her responsibilities on or about September
2002 in order to lead in establishing
the school and preparing it for an outstanding
inaugural year. To do so, many tasks
must be completed during the preparatory
year (2002-03) such as building selection
and renovation, hiring of administrative
and teaching staff, curriculum development,
community relations and planning for
fund-raising. The Executive Director
is the chief executive officer of the
school who will provide overall mission-oriented
leadership. Duties include:

supervising
the principal who will be responsible
for all academic areas.

coordinating
fund-raising activities, including
developing grant proposals, fund-raising
events, mailings, and other development
programs. While building acquisition,
renovation and other start-up costs
are in hand, future operating revenues
will come primarily from contributions.

overseeing
financial aspects of the school, including
purchasing, accounts payable, budgeting,
financial reporting, government filings
and taxes.

serving
as the contact person for public relations
areas, including interacting with
the media and public, corporate, and
community constituencies.

teaching
a class on an intermittent basis in
order to have classroom contact with
students.
-
promoting
positive relations among teachers,
parents and community/neighborhood
members.
-
assisting
the principal in the admissions process
and the process of placing students
in appropriate high schools.
-
recruiting
a talented and dedicated volunteer
faculty.
- supporting the principal in the academic administration of the school,
including curriculum development, academic administration, discipline and
co-curricular activities.
Requirements
-
Eagerness
and ability to lead a school with
a strong Catholic religious and spiritual
foundation.

Master's
degree preferred.
-
Prior
teaching, school administrative and/or
fund-raising experience.

Experience
with Jesuit education and/or service
preferred.
-
Communications
skills, ability to motivate volunteers
and a capacity to build community
and to articulate the values and mission
of the school.

Stamina.
-
A
three to five-year commitment to the
school.
