Summer Internships

Summer internships are an ideal way for students from liberal arts institutions to gain valuable experience in the business world. Although there are formal internship programs and even employers who interview at Holy Cross for summer interns, it is always a good idea to contact local businesses to inquire about positions for the summer.

The Holy Cross Summer Internship Program

The Holy Cross Summer Internship program was established early in 2000. Working with representatives of the College's New York Leadership Council, the College was able to identify several summer internship opportunities in the New York area. Approximately 10 students were selected to work as summer interns in a variety of business settings this past summer. Thanks to the generosity of the New York Council, the students received $6,000 stipends for their work.

Since then, the Summer Internship Program has expanded to include additional opportunities for students to work as interns in New York, Boston and other major metropolitan areas.

If you have questions about the Summer Internship Program, please contact the program director, Amy Murphy at 508-793-3880 or amurphy@holycross.edu. You can also visit the Summer Internship Program Web site

Summer Internship Opportunities through the Career Planning Center

The Career Planning Center provides students with access to thousands of internships nationwide through their internship databases. These databases are searchable by industry and geographic preference. Students can find these databases via the Internships link on the front page of the Center website:

In addition, the Career Planning Center regularly emails to all underclass students the Summer Opportunities Bulletin, a listing of summer jobs/internships in a variety of industries and geographic locations. These listings are open to all students, not just students in the Summer Internship Program.
