Report
from the ALANA Town Meeting, 2/12/05
Those of you who missed the ALANA Town Meeting on February 12th
missed out on an important networking and support opportunity.
Recent alums Isalys Claudio '04, Nikia
Kelly '03, and Juan Pegues '01 joined many other
members of the alumni/ae Bishop Healy Committee to offer advice,
wisdom, and encouragement to about a dozen current HC ALANA
students. Host Joe Reilly '55 quickly adapted the traditional
small-group format so that everyone could participate in a single
discussion.
Topics ranged widely and included helpful suggestions. Among
these: the irony of HC social life
("Having complained about HC social life, as alums we now
now find ourselves CHOOSING to get together with HC ALANA friends
in a room, playing music and talking"), suggestions
for sponsoring "get acquainted with Worcester tours"
and young alum mentoring, and the
power of Rev. Catherine Reed's leadership in worship and Bible
study ("Could it be called something other than
'non-denominatonal' and promoted separately from the other worship
opportunities?"). [All comments, above, are composites
of actual comments.]
Thanks to the Bishop Healy Committee
for hosting this annual forum, and to Joe Reilly for his love
and support of all ALANA students. See you next year at the
ALANA Town Meeting!
