Naval Science (NROTC)
This is an official U.S. Navy web site.
The Department of Naval Science educates and trains young men and women to serve as commissioned officers in the United States Navy and Marine Corps. Our curriculum is directly related to naval and amphibious warfare, with a focus on leadership and ethics, history, naval operations, and core professional skills like navigation and naval engineering.
The department was founded concurrently with the establishment of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Unit at the College of the Holy Cross. While our mission is to support the development of NROTC Midshipmen, our courses are open to the Holy Cross community. Our NROTC students come from a wide range of backgrounds and attend Holy Cross, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and Worcester State College, fostering diverse views on issues affecting naval science today.
