Professors and Mentors

In Montserrat, you not only have the chance to interact closely with the faculty member who teaches your seminar. You also make connections with other professors and mentors from throughout the Holy Cross community.

Faculty members, in addition to teaching seminars, participate in cluster activities in the residence halls and elsewhere on- and off-campus, ensuring that you have access to professors, not only in the classroom but in varied informal settings. Each cluster has its own faculty director who oversees the cluster and coordinates activities in conjunction with the director of Montserrat.

Librarians dedicated to each cluster help students feel at home in the library, introducing them to sophisticated research and reference tools that will continue to be valuable through all four years. Librarians also develop special programs and highlight resources relating to the cluster themes.

Staff from the Office of Student Affairs work with students in Montserrat, particularly in the residence halls, to encourage them to develop as leaders, explore their role as citizens of the College and the larger world, and appreciate diversity and difference. Each cluster benefits by having access to an experienced Student Affairs professional who can help continue the conversations that begin in the classroom.

Chaplains provide opportunities to explore faith, reflect on our obligations to others, and participate in service and social justice projects. Two College chaplains are designated to work with the Montserrat “class,” actively advising and participating in events and programs, and serving as resources to students in all clusters.
