'77 Mary Kay Carbone writes that she opened “Four Winds” in Rockport, Mass., where she has her pottery studio and sells “fathers and husbands” photographs and origami. Frederick J. McCutchon, a practicing attorney, writes that he received the Texas General Land Office Beach and Dune Stewardship Award at the 2007 fall conference of the ASBPA, a national coastal conservation association. '78 Mary Doreen DiGiacomo writes that she has been named a managing director in the Wealth Management Americas division of the international financial firm UBS. Daniel A. Dwyer notes that he joined Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) last August, as the vice president of Northern U.S. operations for its government healthcare solutions group. Marc S. Mendonca writes that he recently started his 14th year at the Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, as the director of radiation and cancer biology. Valerie C. Plaza notes that she works at the Carlthorp School in Santa Monica, Calif., teaching advanced math. Thomas J. '79 Eugene B. “Gene” Casagrande Jr., M.D., writes that he recently completed an associate fellowship in integrative medicine—“which blends traditional allopathic medicine with complementary and alternative medicine”—at the University of Arizona, Program in Integrative Medicine, under the tutelage of its founder, Andrew Weil, M.D. Paul F. Cataldo notes that he is currently working as a senior contract analyst at NISH, a nonprofit agency headquartered in Vienna, Va., that oversees part of the AbilityOne program—a provider of employment opportunities for people with severe disabilities through federal contracts for products and services. Joseph Quaranto, president of Quality Medical Evaluations, Inc., headquartered in Westboro, Mass., announced in April the appointment of John J. McGourty Jr. as the company’s director of business development; according to Quaranto, the medical resource company provides independent medical evaluation services to “insurers, self insured’s, law firms, third party administrators, and government agencies.” Paul F. '82 Bonnie (Stupur) Bielefeld writes that she is currently living in Littleton, Mass., and working as the director of statistics for Abt Associates clinical trials—and adds that she is the owner/chief artist for Floorcloth Designs of New England, with the Web site www.nefloorcloth.com. Thomas M. Quinn III notes that, following 10 years in private practice, he now serves as the first assistant in the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, New Bedford, Mass. Mark E. Reid writes that Andrew J. Rimkus and he were inducted into the Hudson (Mass.) High Athletic Hall of Fame as members of the school’s 1978 undefeated and record-setting boys’ track team. '83 Richard G. Canedo writes that he received his Ph.D. in history in May 2007 from Brown University, Providence, R.I.—and adds that he was recently selected as the recipient of this year’s Dorothy Gifford Chair, presented for excellence in teaching by the Lincoln School in Providence, where he serves as a history teacher. The Philadelphia-based law firm Dilworth Paxson LLP announced in February that Christopher H. Casey, a partner in its corporate investigations and white collar group, was included on the “76 People to Watch” list of Philadelphia Magazine, in the “power and politics” category. Ann E. Doherty-Smith, who works in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System in Huntersville, N.C., writes that she recently earned the designation of National Board Certified Teacher. '84 Vincent H. “Vinnie” Eruzione writes that he is the athletic director at Curry College in Milton, Mass. Michael J. O’Shaughnessy, M.D., notes that he is an associate clinical professor in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California, San Francisco-Fresno Medical Education Program—and adds that he currently serves as the director of the division of gynecology, pelvic floor medicine and reconstructive surgery. '85 Andrea Obston Marketing Communications, LLC, Bloomfield, Conn., announced in February that Eileen D. Brennan has joined the law firm Begos Horgan & Brown LLP as of counsel, based in its Bronxville, N.Y., office; according to the press release, Brennan focuses her practice on wills and estates and real estate matters. '87 Carolyn M. Flanagan and her husband, Wally, announce the birth of their son, Tiernan Padraig, on Oct. 2; Flanagan writes that, in April 2007, she was named general counsel of the MFC Global Investment Management Company. Susan Palsir Huber announces the creation of the Web site www.busybeelifestyle.com, an online magazine that she founded with a partner—providing helpful tips for busy women, on topics such as entertaining, decorating, shopping, and family-related activities. The law firm Kenney & Sams, P.C., with offices in Boston and Framingham, Mass., announced in February that its founding member and managing shareholder Christopher A. Kenney was the 2007 recipient of The Fred H. Sievert Award—presented by the Defense Research Institute (DRI) in recognition of an outstanding defense bar leader; the DRI is the national organization of defense trial lawyers and corporate counsel. Christopher K. Murphy writes that he is a science and technology adviser to the Joint Improvised Explosive Device Defeat Organization (JIEDDO) at the Pentagon; according to Murphy, the mission of JIEDDO “encompasses the development, testing, and deployment of technologies to counter the IED threat in Iraq and Afghanistan.” Carl A. Weiss III, M.D., notes that he was inducted last October as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons—and adds that he currently serves as surgical section chief and director of the Fingerlakes Weight Loss Program at Auburn (N.Y.) '95 Matthew P. Burke, M.D., writes that he completed a fellowship in adult joint reconstruction at Stanford (Calif.) University last summer—and adds that he recently relocated to Georgia to become the chief of adult joint reconstruction at the Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon. Andrew M. Contreras writes that, in February, he accepted a new position as the chief deputy clerk for the United States Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York City. Joel D.
