JOB SUMMARY: Provides clerical support to the College Archives Department
REPORTS TO: College Archivist
SCHEDULE: 2 or 3 days per week, 2-3 hours per day between the hours of 8:30 am and 4:30 pm. Maximum of 10 hours per week (No nights or weekends)
DUTIES:
- Sort and file archival documents.
- Photocopy
- Deliver mail to various campus departments
- Word processing
QUALIFICATIONS:

JOB SUMMARY: Assists the Interlibrary Loan Coordinator with the processing of requests via the ARIEL system.
REPORTS TO: Interlibrary Loan Coordinator
SCHEDULE: Ten to 20 hours per week (2-4 student workers)
DUTIES:
- Scan articles/book chapters
- Send scanned material via ARIEL
- May also photocopy articles
- Miscellaneous tasks

JOB TITLE: Book Repair Assistant
JOB SUMMARY: Assists in the repair and processing of library materials.
REPORTS TO: Stacks Supervisor
SCHEDULE: 1-2 hours per day, 2-3 days per week, weekdays, between 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. No nights or weekends.
DUTIES:
- Assists in covering paperback library materials with plastic laminate.
- Assists with basic repairs to damaged library materials.
- Assists with special projects as needed.

JOB TITLE: Catalog Department Assistant
JOB SUMMARY: Assists in the Catalog Department by searching for bibliographic records in an online database, processing materials, and filing shelf list cards.
REPORTS TO: Principal Catalog Librarian
SCHEDULE: 4 or 8 hours per week, weekdays between 8:30-12:00 or 1:00-4:30. No nights or weekends.
DUTIES:
- Search for records in one database and down-load to another.
- Make and affix spine labels to materials.
- File shelf list cards.
- Other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Dependable.
- Detail-oriented.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
JOB TITLE: Circulation Assistant
JOB SUMMARY: Assists patrons with the use of library facilities and provides general and directional information.
REPORTS TO: Circulation Supervisor/Evening Circulation Supervisor
SCHEDULE: Hours vary; days, evenings, and/or weekends.
DUTIES:
- Checks library materials in and out from the library’s circulating collection.
- Registers new patrons and updates patron records.
- Accurately performs basic cash handling functions.
- Answers the telephone, directing calls to the proper department/staff member or by taking messages.
- Answers general and directional questions for patrons.
- Answers patron inquiries regarding Holy Cross libraries’ holdings through use of the online catalog.
- Monitors the incoming and outgoing security gates, investigating each alarm.
- Serves all library patrons courteously and promptly.

JOB SUMMARY: Assists the Library Technical Support Coordinator with the processing of requests via the ERes system.
REPORTS TO: Library Technical Support Coordinator
SCHEDULE: Varies; more hours at the beginning of each semester; approximately 5 to 10 hours per week; 1 or 2 student workers
DUTIES:
- Scan articles/book chapters
- Create course pages
- Post scanned material to ERes
- May also photocopy articles
- Miscellaneous tasks

JOB TITLE: Reference Assistant
JOB SUMMARY: Assists in processing and re-shelving materials in the reference collection.
REPORTS TO: Reference Librarian
SCHEDULE: 2 hours per day, 2 or 3 days per week, weekdays, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
DUTIES:
- Re-shelve reference materials.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Shelf-read the reference collection on a regular basis.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Dependable
- Attention to detail
- Familiar with the Library of Congress classification system
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
JOB SUMMARY: Assists students and faculty with the use of Reserve Room facilities.
REPORTS TO: Reserve Room Coordinator (days) and to the Circulation Supervisor (after 2:30 p.m.)
SCHEDULE: Hours vary; days, evenings, or weekends
DUTIES:
- Charges reserve materials (books, photocopies, and/or videos) in and out from the reserve collection.
- Answers patron inquiries regarding reserve material holdings and availability through use of the online catalog.
- Records all fines to patron accounts.
- Re-files reserve materials promptly and accurately.
- Reports missing reserve materials to a supervisor immediately.
- Accepts materials to be placed on reserve from faculty or their designated representatives.
- Retrieves materials to be placed on reserve from the stacks.
- Refers any miscellaneous problems (IDS, computer system, etc.) to the supervisor on duty.

JOB SUMMARY: Assists the Stacks Supervisor in maintaining the circulating collection of more than 600,000 volumes located in the Dinand stacks.
REPORTS TO: Stacks Supervisor
SCHEDULE: One weekly 2 hour shift; weekdays 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; no weekends/nights
DUTIES:
- Re-shelve books
- Shelf read call numbers
- Maintain assigned section - face, edge, & straighten books
- Assist with room set-ups
- Miscellaneous tasks

JOB TITLE: Summer Library Assistant
JOB SUMMARY: Provides support to library operations during summer months.
REPORTS TO: Circulation & Stacks Supervisors
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., full time or part time hours
DUTIES: Assist various departments (Circulation, Reserve, Stacks, Interlibrary Loan, Science & Music libraries) as needed.
- Deliver reserve materials to academic departments
- Re-shelve books
- Shelf read stacks
- Cover circulation desk as needed
- Assist with special projects
- Assist with opening/closing the library
