The Holy Cross biosafety program includes recombinant DNA and bloodborne pathogens. The safety manuals follow the NIH guidelines and federal bloodborne pathogens regulations. The Director of Laboratory and Studio Safety along with the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) oversee the biosafety program to insure compliance and safe working conditions. Research programs are evaluated at least annually or when changes occur. College employees are responsible for observing the provisions of the Biosafety Plans and for reporting unsafe conditions to their immediate supervisors. Copies of the Safety Plans are available to all College laboratory employees and students.
