Welcome to Worcester. Let’s get the awkward question out of the way firsts: It’s pronounced “wuh-ster,” not “war-chester.” And if you’re really a local, you may even say “wiss-tah.” But no matter your accent, we’re glad you’re here and able to explore one of New England’s best-kept secrets. The hometown to more than a dozen colleges and universities, Worcester is one of the region’s largest metro areas. There is so much to see here, you’ll want to stay an extra day or two to take it all in. And with greater New England all around you, there are plenty of places to explore outside of Worcester, too. Here are a few sample itineraries and our own staff picks to help you plan a New England getaway, even if you only have one extra day to spend in our neck of the woods.
