Residential Computer Consultants (RCC's)
Information Technology Services (ITS) will hire RCC's to provide their fellow students with residential computer support. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Install and uninstall software
* Troubleshoot and resolve local and network software problems
* Determine if problems are hardware related
* Test for network connectivity
* Answer general computer questions
* Set-up computers
* Set-up printers
* Move computer equipment
* Assist with projects as assigned by the Help Desk
Mandatory Paid Training: Friday, August 29, 2008
Work on First-Year Student Move-In Day: Saturday, August 30, 2008
Prior experience with computers and networking is required for hiring.
RCC's will receive a flat rate of 10 hours per week with 3 of those hours to be spent working at the Help Desk.
Lab Supervisors![]()
The primary responsibility of the lab consultants is to assist other students using the computing resources in our public computer lab in the O'Kane Building, Room 32B, and occasionally other campus labs. The types of assistance include:
*Resolving printer problems (loading paper, jam removal, toner cartridge replacement)
*Reporting hardware problems to the Help Desk
*Answer virus scanning questions and perform virus scans
*Answer Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) questions
*Answer internet browsing and searching questions
*Answer e-mail questions
*Perform routine software maintenance on lab computers
*Assist with projects as assigned by the Help Desk
The number of hours worked will depend on the schedule and work-study allotment of the individual. Weekend and evening hours are available.
