Moving & Copying Files from the P Drive

TIP: For easier instruction while moving files, print this page to use as a help sheet

Windows
To copy files and folders from the P Drive to the Hard Drive

   1. Log into the network
   2. In My Computer or Windows Explorer, open your P: drive
   3. Click Edit, then Select All; all your files and folders will highlight
   4. Click Edit again, then click Copy
   5. Again in My Computer or Windows Explorer, open your C: drive then open the folder on your hard drive where you wish to copy files
   6. On the Edit menu, click Paste


To copy files and folders from the P Drive to a floppy disk

   1. Log into the network
   2. Insert your blank disk in the floppy disk drive
   3. In My Computer or Windows Explorer, open your P: drive
   4. Click Edit, then Select All; all your files and folders will highlight
   5. Click the File menu, select Send To, and then click 31/2 Floppy (A)

To delete a file or folder on the P Drive

   1. In My Computer or Windows Explorer, locate the file or folder you want to delete
   2. Click the file or folder
   3. On the File menu, click Delete

Macintosh OS
To copy files and folders to Hard Drive

   1. Log in and mount your network server onto the desktop
   2. Open your networked Personal Drive (P)
   3. In your Personal (P) Drive window, single-click and hold down the mouse button on the file(s) you want to copy
   4. Drag the file on top of the Hard Drive icon on your desktop, release the mouse button. A progress indicator appears so you know when the Copy is done


To copy files and folders to a floppy disk

   1. Log in and mount your network server onto the desktop
   2. Open your networked Personal Drive (P)
   3. Insert your floppy disk. An icon representing your disk appears on the screen
   4. In your Personal (P) Drive window, single-click and hold down the mouse button on the file(s) you want to copy
   5. Drag the file on top of the picture of your disk, release the mouse button. A progress indicator appears so you know when the Copy is done

TIP: To select more than one file hold down the shift key on the keyboard as you select each individual file; when you do the "drag-and-drop" all files will copy.
