RE: INCLEMENT WEATHER CLOSURE POLICY

The College has a predominantly resident student population consisting of approximately 2700 students, 2600 of whom reside on campus.  According to Dr. Frank Vellaccio, Senior Vice President, "It is understood by faculty and students that classes will be held.  In the event a faculty member is unable to get to class then that individual class will be made up at a later time."

Providing instruction and services to our students is our business and therefore, the College will normally remain open and all employees are expected to make it to work.  In the event an employee is unable to get into work, they must call their supervisor to inform them of their intentions.  Vacation time, floating holidays or personal time may be used as appropriate to receive pay for the "missed day" or a leave without pay day will be assessed.  Sick time may not be used for this purpose.  In case of later developing storms, individuals leaving early from work may also use vacation time, personal time, floating holidays or leave without pay as is appropriate.

Perfect attendance will not be affected by leave without pay absences or early departures for reasons of inclement weather.  In the event a storm is so severe as to prohibit travel and the Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts declares a State of Emergency, the President may elect to close the College.

If the College closes, only "emergency essential personnel" have to report to work.  Department heads are responsible to designate those employees deemed to be "emergency essential personnel" as may be appropriate.  Employees will be paid for their scheduled time during a closure.  Employees who are designated as "emergency essential personnel" will be paid for the time worked and also be given "Time Due" for their normal scheduled time.

Notification of the College Closing or College Closure will be available by the following means:

TELEPHONE MESSAGE LINE:  College Snow Line   793-3990

RADIO STORM CENTERS:  WTAG-580 AM, WSRS-96.1 FM, WXLO-104.5 FM, WBZ-1030 AM

TELEVISION STORM CENTERS: WBZ TV Channel 4, WCVB TV Channel 5, WRKO TV Channel 7

If the College closes early, notification will be made by voice mail and or email to all Departments.  In the event the College has an early closing, only those personnel at work at that time will be credited with early closing time for the remainder of their scheduled time.  Personnel who departed earlier, on their own time, will be held to the full amount of that time.
