The PIT is the "Black Box" performance space for the Theatre Department. It underwent major renovations in 1997. It has 75 permanent seats and, with 100 portable seats, can be confirgured for thrust or arena staging. It is used as a classroom, rehearsal and performance space by the Theatre Department and is the home for Ed Isser's Directing Program.
In 2004, The PIT lighting system was upgraded to 72 dimmers controlled by a Strand GSX console with and over 75 new Altman lighting fixtures.
