The Sea Gull
By Anton Checkhov

Directed by Steve Vineberg

This lyrical late-nineteenth-century tragedy established Anton Chekhov among the ranks of the great modernist playwrights. Set by a lake in the Russian countryside, The Sea Gull is about young artists, passionate romantics on the brink of their careers ~ and, like all of Chekhov's plays, it's equally about love lost and love unrequited, complacency and disenchantment, and the passing of time.

Mimpi Poster
Poster Design by John Buckingham

Mimpi (Dreams)

Libretto and direction by Lynn Kremer
Music by Desak Made Suarti Laksmi

This original musical dance drama, a collaboration between writer-director Lynn Kremer and composer Desak Made Suarti Laksmi, weaves together Indonesian fairy tales and poetry. A versatile cast portrays a range of human and animal characters in twin fables ~ about a covetous husband and a self-sacrificing wife, and an ogress who sets her evil eye on a pair of happy children. Gita Sari, the Holy Cross Gamelan ensemble, is joined by professional musicians playing western instruments to underscore the performance. Ideal for audiences of all ages.
