Chitra
This fusion chamber opera by
composer Shirish Korde and director-librettist Lynn Kremer, first
performed to acclaim in 2000, adapts a magical episode from the
Hindu epic, The Mahabharata, as interpreted by the celebrated Indian
writer Rabindranath Tagore. Chitra, daughter of the King of Manipur,
has been brought up as a boy; she is proud of her manly prowess until
she falls in love with the demi-god Arjuna. The ensemble includes
singer Maria Ferrante, dancers I Nyoman Catra and Tara Ahmed,
and tabla player Samir Chatterjee.

Cyrano de Bergerac
by Edmond Rostard
Directed by Michael Baron
In
Edmond Rostand's epic romantic
adventure, set in France during
the reign of Louis XIII, swordplay
and wordplay hold equal force.

soldier, a brilliant wit and a
tragic poet-lover with the nose
of a clown. Mike Baron directs
a rare revival of this classic
play.
