The
Program:
Sussex differs from most universities in being organized not
by departments or disciplines, but by area schools of study which
bring together a number of related subjects. These schools offer
students academic coherence as well as depth and breadth. In Arts
and Social Studies, the Schools are: African and Asian Studies,
Cultural and Community Studies, Cognitive and Computer Sciences,
English and American Studies, European Studies and Social Sciences.
In the Sciences there are Schools of Engineering and Applied Sciences,
Biological Sciences, Chemistry and Molecular Sciences, and Mathematical
and Physical Sciences. Students are fully integrated. Each student
has a personal academic adviser. Teaching is conducted primarily
in small groups. Visiting students are eligible to participate
in the many extracurricular and athletic programs offered by the
University.
Course Load:
120 units are the equivalent of eight Holy Cross courses.
Independent Cultural Immersion Project (ICIP):
Successful completion of the ICIP, in addition to the required course load, is necessary.
