Housing

STUDENTS STUDYING ABROAD FOR THE FULL ACADEMIC YEAR

The room you selected in the Housing Selection Process will be forfeited. (See new guidelines for this process on our website.) Your roommate will be able to retain the room under certain circumstances, if he/she can identify a new roommate or have one assigned to them. It is the preference of the Office of Residence Life and Housing to allow the student remaining in the room to choose his/her own roommate. HE/SHE CANNOT KEEP THE ROOM AS A SINGLE.

Housing for your Senior year

The Office of Residence Life will send a letter and the Housing Preference Form to your permanent address in January. It must be returned to the Office of Residence Life and Housing by February 28 if you plan to participate in the Housing Selection Process to secure a room on campus for your Senior year. See information concerning the selection of a room and "Proxy Designation" in the Housing Selection Process Guide which can be found on the Residence Life and Housing website located at http://www.holycross.edu/studentlife/housing/reslife/. Once you have been assigned to a room you will be emailed the room assignment. You must reply to this email within five days of receiving it which will indicate that you intend to live in this room for your Senior year. This reply will serve as your Housing Contract for your Senior year until you arrive to campus for the Fall semester. You will sign a paper copy of the Housing Contract prior to moving into your room. Failure to reply to this email within the five day period will result in the loss of the room that you have been assigned to for your Senior year.

SPECIAL NOTE -- It is recommended that you make your own arrangements for a roommate for your return to Holy Cross. Many students who will be away in the Fall semester but will return for the Spring semester arrange for a roommate by identifying a space that will become vacant by someone going to Washington, DC, semester away, or participating in a Study Abroad Program in the Spring semester. Please start speaking to your roommate(s) and friends early in the process.

STUDENTS STUDYING ABROAD IN THE FALL

Students selected to study away from Holy Cross for the Fall semester and returning for the Spring semester are not guaranteed a specific room or roommate. The room and roommate you selected in the Housing selection process will be forfeited. (See new guidelines for this process on our website.) Your roommate will be able to retain the room under certain circumstances, if he/she can identify a new roommate or have one assigned to them. It is the preference of the Office of Residence Life and Housing to allow the student remaining in the room to choose his/her own roommate. HE/SHE CANNOT KEEP THE ROOM AS A SINGLE UNTIL YOU RETURN FOR THE SPRING SEMESTER. On Campus housing will be available when you return to Holy Cross in the spring. The Office of Residence Life will send a letter and the Housing Preference Form to your permanent address in October. It must be returned to the Residence Life and Housing Office by November 1. You will be notified of your room assignment in December, via letter.

STUDENTS STUDYING ABROAD IN THE SPRING

Students selected to study away from Holy Cross in the Spring semester will keep the room and roommate they chose in the Housing Selection Process. The roommate who will remain on campus for the Spring semester will be contacted by the Office of Residence Life and Housing in November and asked to identify a roommate preference for the Spring semester. Failure to identify a preference will result in someone being randomly assigned to the space vacated.

Housing for your Senior year

The Office of Residence Life and Housing will send a letter and the Housing Preference Form to your permanent home address in January. It must be returned to the Office of Residence Life by February 1 if you plan to participate in the Housing Selection Process to secure a room on campus for your Senior year. See information concerning the selection of a room and "Proxy Designation" in the Housing Selection Process Guide which can be found on the Residence Life Office website located at http://www.holycross.edu/studentlife/housing/reslife/.
