Grades
Please note:
- All questions concerning grading should be directed to
the Self-Paced
Spanish Coordinator. All exams and homework are kept on
file in Stein 320 for students who would like to review their
work.
- Grades will be available on-line approximately one week after the completion of each assignment/test. Students should consult the Moodle Course Management System for additional information.
Students will be graded according to their progress in three
categories:
1. Grammar & Vocabulary Acquisition (50%)
- Students will take 6 grammar/vocabulary exams during
the semester. Each exam covers one or two chapters (see Important
Dates).
Please note:
- Students must take exams during
the scheduled testing hours. Testing hours and location will
be posted on the "Bienvenidos" webpage.
- Students may earn extra credit points
when they submit their answers to the Pre-Tests.
2. Skill Acquisition (27%):
- Students will write a composition in the computer
lab after taking their grammar/vocabulary exams. This short
essay will be graded for both content
and accuracy. (see Important
Dates, Evaluation
Criteria) (12%)
- Students will meet with their Spanish Professor once a month
to practice speaking and discuss course progress (see
Important Dates,
Evaluation
Criteria). (6%)
- Students will complete a reading assignment for each
exam and submit it electronically. (6%)
- Students will complete a listening comprehension
exercise before each exam and submit it electronically. (3%)
3. Preparation/Participation (23%)
- Students will meet in small groups with a Foreign Language
Assistant bi-weekly (Evaluation
Criteria). (10%)
- Students will complete the workbook exercises assigned for
each chapter in the QUIA
electronic workbook. (10%)
- Students will complete a culture activity for each exam
and submit it electronically. (3%)
