"We are United!"

School Mural with Acrostic Poems

With the help of an artist in residence, students at United School in Armagh Pennsylvania created a collage-painting mural. Every student contributed an image--some 630 different paintings.

Students in the fourth grade decided to write acrostic poems about the mural:

My class
Unusual
Roaring
Art
Looks great!

By Ryan

Some wrote about the joys of paint:

Paint is a beautiful thing.
A single color of paint makes my day. Why? Because it is so beautiful.
I live in a world of paint.
No one should not like paint.
The texture of the wall when I painted it was wonderful!

By Lauren

Ponies playing
A game of hide and seek
It looked like fun
Night time
The end.

by Aleah

Others about the fun of doing a collage:

Cotton balls
Over all. That is the
Lovely sight I like best, and I
Like the interesting stuff in the
Artistic collages,
Globs from magazines and
Eyeballs in them.

by Kassidy

And using you imagination to paint:

Pretty fish
A good job here
Island is where they are
Nasty, mean fishy that splash
Take and feel their skin.

by Brett
