3. What do women's networks in Chinese culture reveal about the use of guanxi in developing capitalism? How do women's approaches to business present an alternative to debates about Confucian values?

4. How do Brenner and Weller describe the connections between markets, gender, and morality?

5. How does Brenner make sense of competing discourses about gender, money, and power? How are women's activities related to the household and market, and how does Brenner distinguish between the two? What do you think of her argument?
