The Oct. 29 issue of the daily newspaper Bristol ( Conn. ) Press included
an interview with G. Francis “Frank” Farrell about
the Boston Red Sox and his reaction to the team winning the World Series
last year. The Dec. 9 edition of Shore Publishing, Madison ,
Conn. , included a story about Farrell on the occasion
of his 100 th birthday, titled “Well Worth the 86-Year Wait.”

The Oct. 21 edition of the Peabody (
Mass. ) Weekly News announced
that the school committee of the Peabody Veterans Memorial
High School had recently named the school’s varsity baseball field
after John
E. Bezemes. During his 40-year career, Bezemes had taught world
geography, coached baseball and football, and served as
athletic director there, retiring in 1981; as a student,
he had played football, baseball and basketball for the
school.

The Nov. 4 edition of the weekly newspaper Banner included
a story about the farewell reception for Rev. John F. Burke,
given by members of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in
West Boylston, Mass. , on the occasion of his retirement
from active ministry; Fr. Burke had served the parish for 27 years.

Pierce Atwood recently announced that Ralph I. Lancaster Jr. is
included in The Best
Lawyers in America 2005-2006 edition; Lancaster, who is an attorney
with the firm, is recognized for his work in business litigation,
criminal defense and personal injury litigation. Last October,
Bishop Wilton D. Gregory, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic
Bishops, announced Lancaster ’s appointment as a member of the National
Review Board for the Protection of Children and Young People. The Oct.
6 edition of the weekly newspaper Nantucket ( Mass. ) Independent announced
that Robert F. Mooney received the Paul Joseph Revere
Award for history last October from the Olde Colony Civil
War Round Table.

noted that, last September, Park B. Smith was named
an honorary mayor and an honorary vigneron of the town of Chateauneuf
