About
five years ago, Ernie Floyd '84 set out to change the overwhelmingly
negative portrayal of Worcester's youth in the media. The desire to highlight
the positive achievements of the community's young people led him to start
Pride Productions Inc., an organization dedicated to educating
local youth about media and technology. The result was Youth Unity, a half-hour
talk
show that airs on Worcester's public access network; created, designed and
produced by young people, the program gives participants firsthand
experience with all aspects of television programming. Floyd is now expanding
the offerings
of Pride Productions to include youth job net, a student-created
Web page that lists full- and part-time- job opportunities for teens; and
Youth Internet
Entrepreneurs, a program that trains students to develop Web pages
for local businesses to market their products. Floyd notes, "A kid who may
have defaced or stolen from a business in the past can now be an asset to
both the business
and the community."
Floyd is very optimistic about prospects for the
growth of Pride Productions Inc. and welcomes input from the Holy Cross
community. Anyone

mentoring or providing an idea for a new program can call Pride Productions
