John G. Bagley is a member of the 1999-2000 board of editors of Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. Bagley, who has been a member of the Springfield, Mass., law firm of Egan, Flanagan & Cohen since 1987, concentrates his practice on medical malpractice, product liability, commercial litigation, corporate litigation and general negligence. Maureen E. Byrne and her husband, Michael Gottfried, announce the birth of their son, James Ryan Baker, on Oct. 29, 1997. Byrne, who recently completed a "welfare to work" project with the Rockefeller Foundation, is now affiliated with the Great Books Foundation of Chicago. Margaret E. Michaels received her degree from St. John's University School of Law in January 1998. In April, Julie S. Mullen completed her Ph.D. dissertation in engineering at Brown University. Meredith & Grew Inc. announced that Ronald K. Perry has rejoined the company in its Boston office as a senior vice president and director, effective Sept. 1. As head of the Downtown Brokerage Group, his responsibilities include managing the day-to-day operations of the group and serving as an active downtown broker. In June, Alfred P. Quirk Jr. was named the treasurer of Aetna Inc., based in Hartford, Conn.

Louis M. Ciavarra has been elected vice president for the First Circuit of the Federal Bar Association, a professional organization for attorneys and judges involved in federal practice. Ciavarra is associated with the Worcester-based law firm of Bowditch and Dewey as a senior partner in the litigation and employment practice group. Anthony J. Coppolino and his wife, Patricia, announce the birth of their son, Matthew Joseph, on Jan. 28, 1999. Coppolino is now a senior trial counsel for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. David F. Gaffney, who had been a De La Salle Christian Brother for 15 years, was ordained a deacon for the Diocese of Providence, R.I., on May 24. Linda E. Norton, who is an acquisitions editor at the University of California Press in Berkeley, acquires new books in cultural studies, linguistics, literature and poetry. Kevin M. O'Rourke and his wife, Barbara, announce the birth of their son, Marc Edward, on Jan. 8, 1999. O'Rourke has been associated with Smith Cast Iron Boilers, a division of Mestek Inc., in Westfield, Mass., since February 1998. Maureen McGuire Partyka continues to work as a paralegal in municipal finance with Day Berry and Howard in Hartford, Conn.

Donna Fleischer Knott and her husband, David, announce the birth of their son, Brian Frederick, on Sept. 8. Thomas F. Kogut has been appointed media relations coordinator for Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Almond. Edward O. Mazzaferro has recently been appointed to the board of trustees of the UMass Memorial Health Alliance Hospital system and named chairman of the finance committee. Jeanne-Marie DeSalvia and Steven J. Rapillo announce the birth of their son, Brian Joseph, on April 21. Gregory E. Sullivan, who is currently the controller for Clicquot Inc. in New York City, is the founder, director and producer of KLAATU, a 26-member improvisation troupe featuring high level audience interaction; beginning in mid-September, the troupe has scheduled weekly performances at the Producers' Club Theaters in New York City. Since 1997, Sullivan has also been working as a substitute teacher at HB Studio and teaching classes on his own under the name of GSIMPROV. Dennis J. Welch, M.D., and his wife, Donna, announce the birth of their son, Thomas Lambert, on July 27.

Elizabeth Towle Brightman and her husband, Jay, announce the birth of their daughter, Emma Rosemary, on Aug. 25. Mary C. Carr is working as an interim controller/chief financial officer, for software companies. Christopher H. Casey recently accepted an appointment as an assistant U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania in Scranton, specializing in narcotics prosecution and asset forfeiture. Cynthia H. Clancy and her husband, Tom Warren, announce the birth of their son, Peter Clancy, on Dec. 3, 1998. Claude J. Kelly III is an assistant federal public defender in New Orleans, La. Charles D. Leahy, O.D., and his wife, Teresa, announce the birth of their daughter, Madeline Mary. Richard M. Negus is vice president, sales and marketing, Olympic Insurance Associates Inc., Gorham, Maine. Suzanne (Coyne) O'Connell and her husband, Sean, announce the birth of their son, William Sean Jr., on May 17. Douglas A. O'Donnell and his wife, Melissa, announce the birth of their son, Matthew Douglas, on July 3. O'Donnell is working at Insights Capitol Management as a managing partner. Reynold G. Spadoni was recently vice president for planning and development with Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Mary Beth Griffith and her husband, Peter Benson, announce the birth of their son, Luke Peter Griffith Benson, on Jan. 24, 1999. Jane DeSisto Harrity, M.D., and her husband, Paul, announce the birth of their daughter, Elizabeth Teresa, on June 7. The New England Dairy Promotion Board recently announced the appointment of Jeanne L. Hebert as an account manager, in the company's Worcester office. Her responsibilities include implementing and managing marketing plans for the Hannaford/Shop & Save, Big Y Foods and DeMoulas Market Basket accounts; building processor partnering programs with New England dairy processors in conjunction with the "got milk?" advertising program; and conducting seminars in customer service and category management. Lawrence P. Horl, D.P.M., and his wife, Pat, announce the birth of their son, Lawrence Maguire, on June 14. Lloyd P. LaFountain III, who is a partner in the Biddeford, Maine, law firm of LaFountain and LaFountain, is currently serving a second term in the Maine state senate. Michael F. Lynch, who continues to teach at a junior high school in Portland, Maine, is now a commander with the Navy Reserve, flying with VP-93 out of Brunswick, Maine. H. Elizabeth Mitchell is now in charge of North American underwriting for St. Paul Re, Inc. Mary Joy Moriarty, who started Juggle and Joy Vaudeville Clowning with her husband, has been performing as a clown and variety artist in Connecticut-area schools and libraries since 1992. Rev. Bonnie A. Perry, who recently received her doctor of ministry degree from Seabury-Western Theological Seminary, continues to serve as a pastor of All Saints Episcopal Church in Chicago, Ill.

Kathleen Kelley Flax and her husband, Bruce, announce the birth of their son, Benjamin Jacob, on June 17. Flax continues to teach math at Ledyard (Conn.) High School. Donald G. Ganim II, M.D., an anesthesiologist at Beverly (Mass.) Hospital, was recently made a partner in Beverly Anesthesia Associates; he also serves as the District 3 representative for the Massachusetts Society of Anesthesiology. Joan Hogan Gillman is a business development officer for British Interactive Broadcasting, London. Daniel A. Grabauskas has recently been named the director of the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. Leslie L. Grattan and John P. Donahue, M.D., announce the birth of their daughter, Meghan Grattan, on March 25. Claire M. Halloran, who was relocated to Chicago, Ill., continues to work as a speech-language pathologist with young children. Suzanne Russo Kliegerman and her husband, Kip, announce the birth of their twins, Ryan and Ethan, on Aug. 19. Kliegerman is group vice president in the real estate finance division of the European American Bank, Uniondale, N.Y. Jeffery R. Knight is an associate with the New York City law firm of Cravath Swaine & Moore. Dennis E. Mahoney and his wife, Carol '86, announce the birth of their daughter, Thérèse Barbara, on July 23. Kirk L. Chartier, who is a major in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, recently accepted a position as director, strategy, with Think New Ideas Inc. in Atlanta, Ga. Lt. Cmdr. David A. Chase, USN, and his wife, Caroline, announce the birth of their son, Evan, on Oct. 10, 1998. Chase assumed command of the USS Avenger (MCMI) in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, on Jan. 13, 1999. Steven T. Colavito and his wife, Katie, announce the birth of their daughter, Ashley Marie, on May 7. The Colavitos continue to operate a real estate brokerage and management firm in New York City. Donna Kaley Cooney and her husband, Jim, announce the birth of their son, Jack Michael, on June 19. Cooney works as a registered nurse in Berkshire Health Systems - Visiting Nurse Association, Pittsfield, Mass. Charles T. Coursey is the chief executive officer of Coursey and Co. in West Hartford, Conn. Frances Dursi Karoff and her husband, John, announce the birth of their son, Timothy Nicholas, on Aug. 21. Cynthia A. Kroger and Lt. Cmdr. John J. Schneider, USN, announce the birth of their son, Brendan Kroger, on May 25. Schneider is the executive officer on the trident submarine USS Pennsylvania. Marc S. Lampkin recently relocated to Austin, Texas, where he currently serves as the deputy campaign manager for Gov. George W. Bush's presidential campaign. Joseph L. Lunny, and his wife, Christina '87, announce the birth of their daughter, Hayley Suzanne, on July 9. John T. Magnier Jr. is a senior bond analyst at Bear Stearns and Co. in New York City. Carol Gustowski Mahoney and her husband, Dennis '85, announce the birth of their daughter, Thérèse Barbara, on July 23. Christopher M. Marrs and his wife, Maychin, announce the birth of their daughter, Jessica, on Dec. 28, 1998. In January 1999, Marrs joined the Neutrogena Corp. in Los Angeles, Calif., as its quality assurance manager. Stephen T. Murray has been made a partner in the Boston law firm of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo. Nancy McCarthy Phelan and her husband, John, announce the birth of their son, Shamus Kennedy, on July 9. Maj. Helen Gemborys Poremba, M.D., USAF, is now serving as a pediatrician at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. Patrick A. Rogers and his wife, Maura, announce the birth of their daughter, Ellen Barbara, on May 7. Rogers, who is an attorney with Edwards and Angell in Providence, R.I., was elected to the East Providence City Council in November. Mark B. Cuddy, an attorney whose practice is in criminal defense, manages the office of the private investigation firm, the Bellerdine Investigative Agency in Auburn, N.Y. Brett D. Delfino is now serving as counsel at Rabobank International in New York City. Charles E. Dubois is now employed by Perma Pure Inc., a manufacturer of humidification and dehumidification devices and components; as the vice president of sales and marketing, he is responsible for worldwide sales efforts. David M. Goodman and his wife, Katie '88, announce the birth of their daughter, Elizabeth "Liza" Rose, on May 15. Charles E. Graney is a founding partner of Webster Szanyi, a new law firm based in Buffalo, N.Y.; Graney concentrates his practice in civil litigation, primarily in the areas of product liability, civil rights, municipal law, railroad defense and personal injury. In September, Virginia L. Gray-Clarke, M.D., joined the practice of Sharon (Conn.) Pediatrics. Lynn (Jennings) Hargrave and her husband, Dan, announce the birth of their daughter, Sara, on Aug. 5. Philip Gregory Hilton and his wife, Kathleen '89, announce the birth of their son, John Francis, on July 19. Hilton is now an associate with Corbin, Schaffer and Aviles, Chartered, in Severna Park, Md. Deborah L. Hodgkins is an assistant professor of English at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Rudy is now an associate director in corporate finance at Warburg Dillon Read, the corporate finance subsidiary of UBS AG in London, England. Steven M. Saccocia and his wife, Betty, announce the birth of their daughter, Olivia Rose, on June 9. Douglas W. Schreyack, D.P.M., and his wife announce the birth of their son, Matthew, on July 23. Schreyack, who lives in Durham, N.C., is the chief of podiatric surgery at Durham Regional Hospital and an associate with Central Carolina Podiatry. He is also in his second year of law school at North Carolina Central University. Patricia Gannon Simard has been appointed vice president for fiscal affairs and chief financial officer at Merrimack College, North Andover, Mass. Catherine M. Sullivan is an account supervisor at Cohn and Wolfe Public Relations in New York City. Thomas C. Tretter has joined the Amesbury, Mass., law firm of Healey, Deshaies and Gagliardi. Nancy McKee Wiig and her husband, John, announce the birth of their son, John Halvdan Jr., on July 19.

Maureen Maher Burns, M.D., who has joined the HealthAlliance medical staff, is currently practicing at Cardiology Internists of Leominster, Mass. Ellen S. Conte and her husband, Thomas '87, announce the birth of their son, Ryan Shields, on May 13. Suzanne Hasson dePillis and her husband, Vincent, announce the birth of their daughter, Caroline Frain, on March 17. In July, Thomas K. Diverio was promoted to director, financial planning and analysis, at MSNBC, in its Secaucus, N.J., office. William C. Goggins, M.D., has been named Transplant Surgical Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital; the fellowship is part of the Harvard University Medical School program. Previously, he served a seven-year surgical residency program at the Medical College of Virginia; in June, he was named Outstanding Chief Resident at MCV. Katie (Youngs) Goodman and her husband, David '87, announce the birth of their daughter, Elizabeth "Liza" Rose, on May 15. Kathryn (Furio) MacKenzie and her husband, Keith, announce the birth of their son, Matthew Joseph, on July 9, 1998. Peter J. Malia and his wife, Katie, announce the birth of their twins, Andrew James and Dominic Charles, on April 4. Robert J. Meledandri Jr. has joined WindOp Enterprises and its majority-owned division, EcoEnvironments, LLC, of Center Valley, Pa., as the companies' chief financial officer. He also holds the title of executive vice president with EcoEnvironments, LLC. The companies own, operate and manage spa and alternative medical properties at stand alone locations and hospitality resorts. Peter A. Merrigan is the managing partner, Taurus New England Investments, Boston, Mass. James M. Meyer, who is a business service manager for Aetna Retirement Services, a division of Aetna Inc. in Hartford, Conn., is active in Peas on Earth, an organization he helped create in 1988 to provide financial assistance to families facing a medical crisis. Carolyn M. Milano and her husband, Brad Pappas, announce the birth of their twins, Sophia Milano and Troy Milano, on June 1. Eileen Lynch O'Hara and her husband, Tom, announce the birth of their son, Patrick Lynch, on May 5. Mary Ellen (Casey) and Russell F. Piparo announce the birth of their son, M. Casey, on Feb. 9, 1999. Helene Harney and George F. Pyne IV announce the birth of their daughter, Shannon Florence, on Jan. 4, 1999. Susan Salem Evangelista and her husband, Jay, announce the birth of their daughter, Nina Barbara, on Sept. 5. Jill Catalano Feig, M.D., who received her master's degree in public health from Tulane University, New Orleans, La., completed her preventive medicine residency in June; she is now working for the Air Force at Brooks Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Susan Counos Hallenberg is now an investment manager at the Salt Lake City-based real estate development affiliate of Boston Financial. Kathleen H. Hilton and her husband, Philip '87, announce the birth of their son, John Francis, on July 19. Hilton is now a technology market analyst for Jones, Day Reavis and Pogue in its Washington, D.C., office. Deirdre Daly Macnamara and her husband, Dan, announce the birth of their daughter, Brenna Caitlin, on May 25. Michael A. Marro, who completed his Ph.D. in physical chemistry at George Washington University in May 1997, is now employed at the Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tenn. Last summer, Michele A. Mathieu, a fourth-year student at the Brown University School of Medicine in Providence, R.I., completed an internship at the Block Island (R.I.) Medical Center. M. Nicole O'Shea teaches English as a Second Language to students at an elementary school at Oakwood Primary Center in South Huntington, N.Y. Colleen Huban and Jack Phelps announce the birth of their daughter, Caroline Huban, on Sept. 8. Lisa A. Phillips, M.D., completed her ob/gyn residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago in June; she recently joined a private practice in Nashville, Tenn. Thomas R. Schmiegel, USMC, was promoted to his present rank in Quantico, Va., at a ceremony hosted by the 32nd commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. James L. Jones. Michael W. Sullivan, who is a partner in Midwestern Surgical Associates, Saginaw, Mich., specializes in general and vascular surgery. Julie M.
