The Nativity School of Worcester has announced
the hiring of its principal, Alex Zequeira 94, an experienced
educator, administrator and coach.
Zequeira is currently the assistant director
of admission at Kingswood-Oxford School in West Hartford,
Conn., where he has worked in several capacities for the
past nine years. He also teaches Spanish, coaches several
athletic teams and directs theatre productions at the school.
A native of Miami and the son of Cuban immigrants,
Zequeira attended Belen Jesuit Preparatory in Miami for middle
and high school. A 1994 graduate of Holy Cross, he earned
a bachelor of arts degree in history.
"My exposure to Jesuit education truly
has been one of the most defining events in my life," says
Zequeira. "The emphasis on educating the mind, body
and soul has always been the cornerstone of my philosophy
as an administrator, advisor and coach. I am thrilled to
have the opportunity to lead the new Nativity School of Worcester
and to work with the young men we will educate."
"Alex has the talent, experience and the
commitment to contribute to the formation of this school," says
Joanne G. McClatchy, executive director of the Nativity School. "He
understands the academic, social and spiritual components
central to the Nativity mission. His background in teaching
middle and high school, coupled with experience as a coach
and an administrator, make him the ideal individual to lead
the school as principal."
