Herbert
J. McCooey of Jupiter, Fla., Westhampton
Beach, N.Y., and formerly of Manhasset,
N.Y., died Dec. 21, 2001, at 75. Mr.
McCooey, who had worked for many years
on Wall Street, served as a member
and
former governor of the New York Stock
Exchange. Prior to his retirement in
1984, he had been the executive vice
president of Robb, Peck & McCooey Specialist
firm. During his career, Mr. McCooey
had served on various boards, including
the Long Island Savings Bank; Plandome
Country Club; Westhampton Country Club;
and LaRonde Beach Club. He had been
a Knight of Malta and a Knight of the
Holy Sepulchre. A World War II veteran,
Mr. McCooey had served as a signalman
in the U.S. Navy. He had been a member
of the President's Council at Holy
Cross. Mr. McCooey is survived by his
wife, Dolores; four sons; three daughters;
two brothers; 15 grandchildren; and
many nephews and nieces. His brother
was the late Robert H. '52.
