The January issue of Architectural Digest included a profile of Joanne de Guardiola, president of Joanne de Guardiola Design Inc. in New York City. The Jan. 6 edition of the Scranton, Pa., Sunday Times, included the article, "The Making of a Mayor," about Christopher A. Doherty, who was recently elected to his first term as mayor of Scranton. Doherty is a partner of James A. Doherty Co., Scranton, which specializes in the international sale of religious articles to nonprofit organizations. Lawrence A. "Larry" Ewald has served 14 years as head coach of Peru (N.Y.) High School. The article, "Stirring ride with Peru," which appeared in the Dec. 5 edition of the Press-Republican, noted Ewald's contributions to the school's football program, including the team's first win of the New York State Class B Championship in 2001. In October, Celcorp, a developer of intelligent enterprise application integration software located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, announced that David R. Ornelas has been named the president and chief executive officer of the company. In January, Netegrity Inc., headquartered in Waltham, Mass., announced the appointment of Regina O. Sommer as the company's chief financial officer.

The Nov. 23 issue of The Wall Street Journal included an article about Robert C. Brennan in its "Marketing & Media" section; Brennan currently serves as the president of Leo Burnett Worldwide. Pine Cobble School, Williamstown, Mass., announced in October that Mary Ann McSweeny has joined its staff as the Lower School French teacher. In September, LeCroy Corp., headquartered in Chestnut Ridge, N.Y., announced the appointment of Thomas H. Reslewic as the company's chief executive officer, effective Jan. 1, 2002.

Elizabeth "Beth" McAnaney Altonji and her husband, Gerard, announce the birth of their daughter, Sarah Rose, on Feb. 22, 2001. The latest recording of Anthony A. Ashur titled, "Blessed Assurance," has been nominated for Best Instrumental Album and Best Cover by the United Catholic Music and Video Association's Unity Awards. Ashur is the chairman of the music department of Georgetown Preparatory School, North Bethesda, Md. The New York Medical College, Valhalla, N.Y., recently announced the appointment of David E. Asprinio, M.D., as acting chairman of the department of orthopedic surgery. He was also named acting director of the orthopedic service at Westchester Medical Center and program director of the college's residency program in orthopedic surgery at the medical center. Robert L. Cunningham III was appointed vice president for institutional advancement at Northeastern University in Boston. In December, Connecticut Voices for Children, a statewide child advocacy agency, honored Michael G. Duggan with the 2001 Youth Mentor Award, in recognition of his efforts to develop programs and services that have benefited youth education and promoted good citizenship and responsible leadership. Duggan is the executive director of the Domus Foundation which oversees several educational and guidance programs for young people in crisis in the Stamford, Conn., area; he is also a member of the board of directors of the Stamford Council of Churches and Synagogues and the Stamford Mayor's Youth Advisory Board. Owen P. Keenan III and his wife, Bridget, announce the birth of their daughter, Caroline Mary Eldredge, on Oct. 9. Keenan is in his second year teaching math at Barnstable (Mass.) High School; he also coaches boys cross country, boys track, and girls junior varsity basketball. Donna Fleischer Knott and her husband, David, announce the birth of their daughter, Amy Bernadette, on June 8. The Dec. 17 issue of Banker & Tradesman included a profile of David M. McElroy, who is a managing partner at Insignia Hotel Partners in Boston. Janet M. Scalese and Patrick J. Sheehan announce the adoption of their daughter, Nora Marie, born on June 1. Scalese is the chief of the nonbeverage products section of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms. Sheehan, who is self-employed, works for the Internet-design and host company, Webharmony, in Washington, D.C.

Rev. Msgr. Michael W. Banach, desk officer for Central Europe in the Secretariat of State at the Vatican, has been named director of Villa Stritch, the residence for priests from the United States who work at the Vatican. Appointed to a three-year term, his responsibilities include oversight of the physical plant, financial administration and personnel issues. Arthur F. Barrett and his wife, Ann, announce the birth of their son, Michael, on Nov. 27. Stephanie Gregory Gironda and her husband, Joe, announce the birth of their twins, David Joseph and Patrick Stephen, on Oct. 16. Gironda is an attorney with the West Orange, N.J., firm of Lucas Savits & Marose. The Boston Business Journal selected David J. Grain as one of the individuals honored in its "40 under 40" supplement published Nov. 2; initiated in 1998, the magazine selects 40 of "Boston's brightest business and civic personalities" for recognition each year. Grain, who is a regional vice president for AT&T Broadband, oversees the company's New England operations; he also participates in the nonprofit group, the Partnership; the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce; and the Boys and Girls Hope Foundation. Christopher P. Henzel is the deputy director of the Office of Egyptian and North African Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. Op40 Inc., a software provider located in Armonk, N.Y., recently announced that John T. Murphy has joined the company as vice president, sales and services. Peter A. Salamon, a senior research chemist at Loctite Co. in Rocky Hill, Conn., recently passed the Patent Bar Exam.

James A. Dino has been working the past five years for R.R. Bowker Publishing in New Providence, N.J. In December, Citizens Bank, Providence, R.I., announced that Maura Keegan Fairbanks has been named senior vice president and director of branch administration for Rhode Island and Connecticut. Brian P. Kane and his wife, Olivia, announce the birth of their daughter, Florence Olivia, on Oct. 17. Kane, who continues to practice landscape architecture, also teaches at Virginia Polytechnic Institute's Washington Architecture Center. Kelly (Donahue) Leatherwood and her husband, Peter, announce the birth of their daughter, Mary Margaret, on Aug. 7. Nora Walsh Loughnane and her husband, John '87, announce the birth of their son, Braden Quinn, on Jan. 27, 2001. The Worcester Business Journal selected Kimberly A. Rozak for inclusion in its "40 under 40" list for 2001; published in its September issue, the list honors Central Massachusetts residents under the age of 40 for their professional and service contributions. Rozak is associated with the Worcester law firm of Mirick O'Connell; her volunteer service includes assisting the Navajo Nation with employment issues and helping Arizona attorneys locate legal services for Indian constituents with needs in Massachusetts. Mary MacLean Toland and her husband, John, announce the birth of their son, Brendan MacLean, on March 11, 2001. Thomas J. Valente, M.D., and his wife, Leigh, announce the birth of their son, Thomas Anthony, on Oct. 9. Valente is now the director of Lifestream Behavioral Center, a community mental health center located in central Florida. In addition to continuing to work as a consultant and regional speaker for several pharmaceutical companies, he recently became an investigator for Coordinated Research of Florida.

Combined Properties, Inc., a full-service real estate investment and development firm in Malden, Mass., announced in October that Brian G. Cafferty has been appointed associate counsel of the company. The December 2001 issue of the Montpelier (Vt.) Bridge featured a profile of Lilli B. Cain and her family's business activities in Vermont, including ownership of the Capital Plaza Hotel and restaurant, J. Morgan's, in Montpelier. Cain is the chief financial officer of the Capital Plaza Corp. Jacquelyn (Thumith) and James H. Campbell announce the birth of their daughter, Catherine McKinnon, on Jan. 15, 2001. The Oct. 22 edition of Crain's Cleveland Business included an article about Christians Linked in Mission, a philanthropic organization based in Cleveland, Ohio, and Joseph F. Cistone, the organization's executive director. Jennifer Eppelmann Cusack and her husband, Michael, announce the birth of their daughter, Kelly Ann, on March 16. Roger G. Davis has recently joined the Providence, R.I., law firm of Partridge Snow & Hahn as of counsel. He is a member of the real estate; litigation; and the energy, utilities and telecommunication practice groups. Ann-Marie (Roca) Fricano joined the geriatrics division of Fallon Clinic in Worcester as a geriatric nurse practitioner. Lynn Jennings Hargrave and her husband, Daniel, announce the birth of their son, Riley Joseph. Mary (Kinsella) and Kevin R. Lawler announce the birth of their son, Patrick Daniel, on Jan. 17, 2001. Mary works at the Tribune Co. and Kevin works at Bank of America, both in Chicago, Ill. John G. Loughnane and his wife, Nora '85, announce the birth of their son, Braden Quinn, on Jan. 27, 2001. Gregory G. Lynch, who is a New York City firefighter, was operating as a chief's aide in Building 7 when the first tower collapsed on Sept. 11; he is currently assigned in the Chinatown section of Manhattan at Engine 9/Ladder 6. The Boston Business Journal selected Theresa M. Lynn as one of the individuals honored in its "40 under 40" supplement published Nov. 2; initiated in 1998, the magazine selects 40 of "Boston's brightest business and civic personalities" for recognition each year. In December, Lynn became the new executive director of ReadBoston, the city's early literacy program. Edward C. Maher Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, announce the birth of their daughter, Natalie Grace, on Sept. 29. Maher recently rejoined Cushman & Wakefield Inc. as executive director in the company's Boston office. Bridget McKeever Matz and her husband, David, announce the birth of their daughter, Eleanor Claire, on Sept. 11. Linda (Goff) Mitchell and her husband, Jim, announce the birth of their daughter, Bridget Claire, on Sept. 6. Mary Callery O'Brien, M.D., and her husband, Daniel, announce the birth of their daughter, Molly Katherine, on March 30, 2000. O'Brien, who continues on staff as an internist at UMass Memorial Health Care, also teaches at UMass Medical School. Mary Pat (Conneally) Radeka and her husband, Dejan, announce the birth of their son, Tristan Nikola. Lisa (Cannon) Ramson, M.D., and her husband, Stuart, announce the birth of their daughter, Brianna Jocelyn, on March 6, 2001. Ramson recently opened her own medical practice in Hohokus, N.J., specializing in pulmonary, critical care and internal medicine. Marcy McManus Vandale and her husband, Rick, announce the birth of their daughter, Emily Elizabeth, on March 9, 2001.

Andreoli for inclusion in its "40 under 40" list for 2001; published in its September issue, the list honors Central Massachusetts residents under the age of 40 for their professional and service contributions. Andreoli is a senior account executive for Quaker Special Risk Inc. in Worcester; his community involvement includes United Way of Central Mass.; Junior Achievement; YMCA; and youth sports. Ann (Trunko) Bsales and her husband, Jamie, announce the birth of their son, Gregory, on Sept. 17. The Worcester Business Journal also selected Gordon C. Lockbaum for inclusion in its "40 under 40" list for 2001. Lockbaum, who serves as president of the Sullivan Insurance Group Inc. in Worcester, is active in the United Way; Why Me Inc.; and youth sports. Cathleen (Dwyer) and Martin P. Murphy Jr. announce the birth of their daughter, Megan Maura, on Feb. 21, 2001. Arlene Rodda Quaratiello and her husband, Mark, announce the birth of their daughter, Julia Katharine, on April 25. The professional services firm, KPMG, announced in September that Mary K. Rosano has been admitted into the partnership of the U.S. firm; Rosano is associated with the company's New York City office. Patricia (Daly) "Tricia" Santos and her husband, Ron, announce the birth of their son, Aidan John, on Feb. 9, 2001. David V. Sheehan III and his wife, Lisa '89, announce the birth of their son, Zachary Thomas, on June 6. Carolyn (Battista) Thorng and her husband, Eric, announce the birth of their daughter, Madison Elizabeth, on June 14.
