The President of the College, Rev. Michael
C. McFarland, S.J., has announced that Jack Rehm will lead
Holy Cross into its next capital campaign as National Campaign
Chairman. Rehm ’54, retired president, chief executive
officer and chairman of the board of the Meredith Corporation,
is a dedicated and active alumnus. In addition to currently
serving a second term as a Trustee, he is a member of the
President’s Council, and has been co-chair of his class’s
reunion gift committee for the past five reunions. Three
of Jack and Cynthia Rehm’s four children—Lisabeth ’81,
Cindy ’85 and J.D. ’88—
have graduated from Holy Cross.
When asked why he is willing at this point
in his life to devote so much time and effort to Holy Cross,
Rehm says, “These are the things you do when
you have a strong feeling about something and a deep affection for a place. I
see this as a commitment to that affection.” Rehm adds, “It is important
to understand that this campaign will only succeed if others feel this way too.”
He hopes the committee will be able to set and meet an ambitious dollar goal,
though the exact figure is still being discussed. “The campaign is about
excellence in education and helping people by providing economic access,” Rehm
says. To date the campaign has been in a silent phase, but Rehm says the horizon
is bright: “Thanks to the Trustees, we’re already off to a great
start.”
