This spring,
Michael Ruettgers, president and chief executive officer
of EMC Corporation, gave a lecture at Holy Cross entitled “Creating
and Sustaining Exceptional Growth: The EMC Story.” EMC,
which is based in Hopkinton, Mass., is the leading provider
of intelligent enterprise storage systems, software and services.
In the lecture sponsored by the department of economics and
the Holy Cross Parents Council, Ruettgers counseled students: “You
have it within your power to determine who your next boss
will be, so use your job interview to select the right one.
Find out how your potential boss is regarded by his or her
peers and executives, then attach yourself to winners — your
success depends on how you choose.” Ruettgers and wife,
Maureen, are the parents of Chris ’99 and Abby ’03.
