Two distinguished alumni to play “Hardball”

Before Holy Cross and St. Mary’s College of California, in Moraga, meet in the gridiron for the first time on Saturday, Oct. 30, two of the colleges’ distinguished alumni will play “hardball.” Chris Matthews, a member of the Holy Cross Class of 1967 — best-selling author of several books, including Hardball (How Politics is Played by One Who Knows the Game), and host of Hardball, the CNBC nightly talk program — will join Jack Henning, a 1938 graduate of St. Mary’s College, — former United States Under-Secretary of Labor, ambassador to New Zealand, and namesake of the John F. Henning Institute for Catholic Social Thought — to share unique perspectives. You can meet these two veterans of the political trenches at a reception following their presentation on Friday, Oct. 29 at 8 p.m. in the Soda Activity Center at St. Mary’s College. Tickets are $25 for alumni and $50 for the general public. For reservations and additional information call the St. Mary’s Development Office at (925) 631-4223.
