Mary E. Fontana-Penn, M.D., maintains a private practice in Philadelphia, Pa.,
and serves as chief, division of allergy/immunology at Pennsylvania Hospital.
David P. MacAdam is currently serving as the director of research and development
with C.R. Bard in Lowell, Mass. Robert C. Varney is employed as an account executive
for the Universal Underwriters Group, Framingham, Mass.; his responsibilities
include covering the insurance needs of franchised automobile dealers in northeastern
Massachusetts. Equity Office Properties Trust recently announced the promotion
of Glenn P. Verrette to the position of managing director; his responsibilities
include leading the market-based team responsible for the company's leasing functions
in the Boston area.
Michael T. Harvey '80
In February, Michael T. Harvey shared an Academy Award nomination for "Best
Short Feature Documentary: Writer," for his film, Eyewitness: The Legacy
of Death Camp Art. The film, which features the life and work of three
artists-Jan Komski, Dina Gottliebova and Felix Nussbaum-examines the horrors
of daily life in the Nazi death camps as depicted in the sketches and paintings
of the men and women who drew them in secret while imprisoned there.
A free-lance writer and producer, Harvey works for Kurtis Productions in Chicago,
creating documentaries for "Investigative Reports" which airs on the Arts and
Entertainment cable network. He also does free-lance work for WBBM-TV, Chicago,
developing high-profile feature and investigative series as well as local documentaries.
The winner of numerous regional Emmys, National CableAce awards and festival
medals, Harvey received his master's degree in journalism from the Medill School
of Journalism at Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill., and his juris doctor
degree from Duke University, Durham, N.C.

In November, Mary G. Berner was named the president and chief executive officer
of Fairchild Publications Inc. in New York City. Charles J. Browne is currently
working as a fiscal administrator for the Center for Ecological Technology
(CET), a community-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop,
promote and display environmentally friendly technology systems. John J. Kapp
III has been designated a "certified civil trial attorney" by the New Jersey
Supreme Court. Deborah Dowd McCarthy and her husband, John '83, announce the
birth of their daughter, Mary O'Connor, on Jan. 6. Joseph P. Morgan Jr. has
been named the president of eflatbed.com, an Internet company headquartered
in Greentree, Pa., which provides complete logistics services to flatbed motor
carriers and shippers. J. Terrence "Terry" Waters has been named the president
of international operations for the Internet company ScreamingMedia.
Paula Driscoll Slovenkai '81
The National Catholic Reporter selected "Awakening," a
photograph by Paula Driscoll Slovenkai, as one of 60 images
to appear in its Dec. 24, 1999 edition, "Jesus 2000." This
special issue was the result of a competition sponsored
by the National Catholic Reporter in search of a
contemporary visual representation of Jesus for the new
millennium. The contest drew 1,678 submissions from 1,004
artists in 19 countries. A panel of judges, including Sister
Wendy Beckett, author and host of a series of art programs
on public television, made the final selections.
Slovenkai's "Awakening" was also part of "An Exhibition of Top Selections from
National Catholic Reporter's JESUS 2000 Contest," jointly presented by Pace
Unversity and Yangtze Repertory Theatre of America during the months of May
and June at the Schimmel Center for the Arts, Pace University, in New York
City.

John T. Andreoli, president of the Sullivan Insurance Group in Worcester, has
been elected vice chairman of the board of trustees of the Worcester Medical
Center. Francis X. J. Bohdiewicz, M.D., is quoted in The Doctors Book of Home
Remedies for Seniors, recently published by Rodale Press as part of Prevention
Health Books for Seniors. Bohdiewicz, who is a specialist in physical medicine
and rehabilitation at the Youville Hospital and Rehabilitation Center in Cambridge,
Mass., is one of 352 medical experts offering advice on illnesses and other
complaints associated with aging. In April, Christine Ciandrini was appointed
senior vice president of operations with Logic Tier Inc., San Mateo, Calif.;
her responsibilities include overseeing the Internet operations, information
technology and professional services divisions of the company. Janet M. Logan
has been named vice president, marketing, with Revenio, Inc., a Burlington,
Mass.-based company that develops marketing automation software.

Foundation postdoctoral fellowship. Robert E. Lubanski, M.D., was recently
named chairman of Wilmington (N.C.) Anesthesiologists. John K. McCarthy and
his wife, Deborah '81, announce the birth of their daughter, Mary O'Connor,
on Jan. 6. Barbara Miller Pannell and her husband, Greg, announce the birth
of their son, Andrew Joseph, on Dec. 21. Pannell is a systems team leader for
United Healthcare in Charlotte, N.C. In June, Steven A. Rogers was named vice
president and controller of Dominion Resources Inc., Richmond, Va.

featured in the article "Toasting Women/Women at Work," which appeared in the
March 9 edition of the weekly newspaper, Upper Cape Codder. Hanlon is currently
teaching and directing at the Harwich (Mass.) Junior Theater. Sun Chemical
recently promoted David D. Hohman to the position of regional manager for its
Chicago, Ill., and Minneapolis, Minn., territories. Mary McIntyre Murgo and
her husband, David, announce the birth of their son, Christopher Joseph, on
July 8, 1999. In March, Eaton Vance Distributors Inc., the broker-dealer subsidiary
of Boston-based Eaton Vance Corp., announced the promotion of Cornelius J.

regulatory matters. Paul D. Riley and his wife, Marybeth, announce the birth
