Dear Classmates:
SPECIAL CLASS DINNER: A very special invitation was sent
to all members of the Class of 1949 and the spouses of
deceased members by Rev. John E. Brooks, S.J., our esteemed
classmate, to attend a Special Class Dinner at The Worcester
Club on June 8, the Thursday evening preceding the festivities
of the 51st Reunion of the Class. There was a great turnout
of 80 classmates and their spouses. A beautiful program
was written by Fr. Brooks. The food and service at The
Worcester Club were truly outstanding. At Father's request,
it was a social evening altogether, and he chose not to
say anymore than grace before the meal, which was beautifully
written and most apropos for the occasion. All in attendance
had a long, leisurely and exhilarating evening merely being
with one another. Truly, the Special Class Dinner that
evening will always remain one of the memorable events
in the history of the Class of 1949.

John McCall continues to work as a part-time volunteer

Xavier is the only historically
black university that is also Catholic. The big news this year for Xavier is
that its founder, Mother Katharine Drexel, S.B.S., will be canonized on Oct.
1.
Following his death, family members found a cache of manuscripts written by
Bishop John A. Marshall, who had served as bishop of both Burlington, Vt.,
and Springfield, Mass. An article in the Worcester Telegram on Feb. 20 detailed
the extraordinary writings of the bishop. A book is being published presently,
entitled, But Who Do You Say I Am?, a collection of some of the bishop's writings.
