The College’s vice president of business affairs and
treasurer, William Durgin, has accepted the newly created
position of College treasurer and chief investment officer.
In his 20 years as financial vice president, Durgin has helped
build an endowment and financial assets that now exceed $400
million; earnings from endowment now provide more than 12
percent of the College’s operating budget. “We
feel it is important to pay more attention to the careful
management of these resources,” says Holy Cross President,
Rev. Michael C. McFarland, S.J. “In his new position,
Bill will oversee the day-to-day management of financial
assets and staff the trustees’ investment committee,
which makes our long-term investment decisions.” The
search for a new vice president for finance and administration
is currently under way.
