G. Earl Peace Jr. has been named a new assistant dean and
class dean for the Class of 2005. A graduate of Lafayette
College, Easton, Pa., Peace received both his master's degree
and Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from the University of
Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He was a tenured member of the
faculty at Lafayette before joining the Holy Cross faculty
in 1979 as an associate professor of chemistry. While at
Holy Cross, he served as the minority student advisor and
served on several committees, including the Committee on
Tenure and Promotion, the Academic Standing Committee and
the Admissions Committee. In addition to his duties as class
dean, he will teach in the First-Year Program and will have
special responsibility for student academic assessment. Peace
takes over from the current assistant dean, Joseph Maguire,
who is retiring from
the College after 39 years of service.
