Peter K. Arabia, S.J., was ordained a deacon in May at St. Peter Church in Cambridge, Mass. Catherine Carstens Ediger was recently named senior vice president-corporate services for Parkview Health Systems headquartered in Fort Wayne, Ind. In this position, Ediger is responsible for all legal, compliance, risk management and insurance matters for the organization. Cmdr. Curtis MacKenzie, USN, who recently received his master's degree in national security and strategic studies from the Naval War College, Newport, R.I., is now serving as an action officer in the manpower and personnel directorate of the Joint Staff, the Pentagon, in Washington, D.C. James H. Mullen Jr. has been promoted to senior vice president and executive director of Project 2002 at Trinity College in Hartford, Conn. Thomas M. Ripp is now president of Interpoint Corp. in Redmond, Wash.

Haley and his wife, Elizabeth, announce the adoption of their son, Michael Andrei, who was born on March 4, 1997, in Chisineau, Moldova. Rina Capicotto Lee and her husband, Joseph, announce the birth of their daughter, Cara Antonia, on July 21, 1997. Lee continues to practice law part time. John M. Lutz and his wife, Suzanne, announce the birth of their son, Timothy Patrick, on April 7. James J. O'Hara and his wife, Diane, announce the birth of their daughter, Marika Ann, on Dec. 3, 1997. Inc. in Mystic, Conn. Cynthia W. Hamer has joined the advertising sales staff of Sony Online Entertainment Inc. as a district manager on the East Coast. Annmarie McDonagh-Coyle, M.D., and her husband, Liam, announce the birth of their son, Cormac Liam Barry, on Nov. 9, 1997. Walter J. O'Donnell, M.D., is now vice chairman of medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. Dana A. Peterson has been appointed assistant principal of Mount St. Joseph Academy in Rutland, Vt. Nancy F. Petit, M.D., is now in private practice as a staff obstetrician-gynecologist at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, Del. Katherine M. Waters and her husband, Ronald Clark, announce the birth of their twin daughters, Caroline Elizabeth and Grace Frances, on Oct. 8, 1997.

Oden and his wife, Nelly, announce the birth of their son, Eric Jr. Oden, who works for Blaylock & Partners, an investment banking firm in New York City, is also coaching youth basketball. Christopher R. O'Hara and his wife, Elissa, announce the birth of their daughter, Grace Elizabeth Noel, on Dec. 25, 1997. Christopher E. Phillips, who is a course manager and student at the Barre (Mass.) Center for Buddhist Studies, is the author of The Wilds of Worcester, a guide to open-space parcels in the city. Joseph M. Pilewski, M.D., and his wife, Anne, announce the birth of their son, Matthew, on Dec. 15, 1997. Pilewski is an assistant professor of medicine in pulmonary and critical care at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. Nancy A. Price recently celebrated her 12th year as a social worker for the department of human services in Bangor, Maine. David L. Renaud, D.D.S., maintains a private dental practice in East Providence, R.I. Steliane (Siozopoulos) Thompson and her husband, David, announce the birth of their son, Nicholas Anthony, on Sept. 18, 1997. Linda (Bond) Tyler teaches writing and communications at Providence (R.I.) College and the New England College of Finance.

In July, the Fox Family Channel's advertising sales group announced the promotion of Abbott to the position of senior vice president in its New York office. Laura Caroompas Cannon, who continues to work as a news anchor for Metro Network in Providence, R.I., also serves as chair of publicity and new membership for the Friends of the Attleboro (Mass.) Public Library and as a member of the advisory board of Big Brothers of Rhode Island. Robert J. Cannon Jr. has been promoted to senior loan officer at BankBoston in Providence, R.I. Lynne Larocca Caver and her husband, Frank, announce the birth of their son, Colin Larocca, on Sept. 30, 1997. Tammy L. Chamberlain, who received her master's degree in physical therapy from the University of Colorado in May, accepted a position at Craig Hospital in Denver, Colo., where she is specializing in neurology (traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury). She is also flying Huey helicopters part time for the Colorado National Guard. Daniel A. Gerardi, M.D., recently joined St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Conn., as an attending physician in pulmonary and critical care medicine. Kelly O'Brien Gottlick and her husband, Phil, announce the birth of their son, Liam Charles Nelson, on July 18. Lt. Cmdr. Edward J. Harrington, USN, who serves as executive officer aboard the amphibious assault ship, USS Comstock, home-ported in San Diego, Calif., is responsible for all administration and operations aboard the ship. Gary P. Martin and his wife, Sharon, announce the birth of their daughter, Kasey Marie, on Feb. 3. Martin continues to serve as the vice president, fleet services, with Clark & Reid Moving Company in Billerica, Mass. Eugene J. McMahon, M.D., and his wife, Victoria '83, announce the birth of their daughter, Rosemary Bousquet, on May 9. Clare E. Morey and Thomas E. Ouellette, D.D.S., announce the birth of their son, Andrew Morey, on April 2. Clare is a speech pathologist at the Craig Rehabilitation Hospital in Englewood, Colo. Tom maintains a dental practice in Denver, Colo. James J. O'Reilly Jr. and his wife, Kris, announce the birth of their daughter, Meghan Irene, on June 15, 1997. John A. Pietropaoli Jr. completed his first year as a staff vascular surgeon at the National Naval Medical Center. Scott C. Beightol and his wife, Desiree, announce the birth of their daughter, Ari, in October 1997. Beightol, who is associated with the Milwaukee, Wis., law firm of Michael, Best & Friedrich, represents management in employment-related lawsuits and serves as co-chair of the firm's recruitment committee. He has also won a seat on the Whitefish Bay Village (Wis.) board of trustees. Eileen D. Brennan and her husband, John M. Conlon, announce the birth of their daughter, Delia Laffry, on Nov. 14, 1997. Timothy J. Farley and his wife, Mary Colleen '88, announce the birth of their son, John Conor, on April 5. Mark L. Faucher, M.D., has been named medical co-director of the Malden (Mass.) Hospital Ob/Gyn Center. Faucher, who is with Partners in Women's Health, also maintains a private medical practice and serves as a clinical instructor in obstetrics and gynecology at the Boston University School of Medicine and Tufts University. Cheryl Frates Maxim and her husband, Craig, announce the birth of their son, Christopher Andrew, on Sept. 14, 1997. In July, Joseph T. Metzger was named a partner in the law firm of Hinshaw & Culbertson; Metzger, who is with the firm's Tampa, Fla., office, concentrates his practice in the defense and litigation of matters related to insurance coverage, personal insurance, product liability and commercial litigation. Wanda M. Moreis, who is currently a children's social worker with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, has been accepted into the master's degree program in social work at the Long Beach Campus of California State University. Aimee McHale Ness, who is involved in volunteer activities, is president of the board of directors of Gaston Family Health Services, a health and dental clinic for indigent and uninsured patients; she also works part time as an attorney. Thomas J. Valente, M.D., who maintains a private practice as a geriatric psychiatrist in Central Florida, is currently involved in Alzheimer's research.

Denehy has been named assistant vice president, estate settlement officer, at Fleet Private Clients Group. Elizabeth (Gillard) Giamportone and her husband, Todd, announce the birth of their daughter, Laura Rose, on Jan. 4, 1997. Jennifer (Stebbins) Griggy is currently working at Levi Strauss & Co., San Francisco, Calif., in marketing research for the Dockers ® brand. Linda (Connor) Lacke and her husband, Tony, announce the birth of their daughter, Marie Rose, on March 30. Anne (Barry) Millard and her husband, Paul, announce the birth of their daughter, Emily Rose, on Aug. 11, 1997. Mark S. Murphy and his wife, Susan '87, announce the birth of their daughter, Julia Margaret, in January 1998. Murphy, who is vice president for development at the May Institute, Revere, Mass., directs the fund-raising operation for a New England regional network of 120 non-profit behavioral health care, education, and rehabilitation programs. Catherine R. Nugent is an associate at a personal injury-plaintiff, labor law firm in Buffalo, N.Y. Christine (Reynolds) Quigley and her husband, John, announce the birth of their son, Brendan Richard, on Feb. 22, 1997. Julie Thompson Quinn and her husband, Chris, announce the birth of their son, Charles Thompson, on Feb. 7. Jean (Rainville) Randazzo, M.D., and her husband, Domenick, announce the birth of their son, Domenico Leonardo, on Jan. 14, 1998. Randazzo continues to serve as assistant chair of medicine at Morristown (N.J.) Memorial Hospital where she oversees the internal medicine residency. Bruce M. Sabados is a partner in the New York City law firm of Rosenman & Colin. Michael A. Simons and his wife, Karen, announce the birth of their twins, Patrick and Bridget, in March. Simons is now a law professor at St. John's University. MaryBeth (Fox) Soutar is vice president of sales and marketing with Hymedix International, a small product development firm for polymers in Dayton, N.J.; she is also pursuing her master's degree in technical management at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Mary-Jane Staba, M.D., and her husband, Terence Hogan, announce the birth of their daughter, Elizabeth Nicole, on May 13. Staba recently completed her pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship at the University of Chicago Hospitals. Linda Booth Sweeney is pursuing her Ph.D. at Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass. Kathleen (Kitty) Wach and her husband, Peter Ellsworth, announce the birth of their daughter, Fiona Marie, on Dec. 17, 1997. Wach works in the legal division of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Washington, D.C., Circuit. John C. Wirth III, M.D., who had worked with "Doctors of the World" in Kosovo for four months as an obstetrics consultant, is now on staff at the New York University Downtown Hospital in New York City and serving as director of OB/GYN resident education.

Jensen, M.D., who completed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Florida, accepted a fellowship in nephrology at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Jennifer (McCarthy) Kindel and her husband, George, announce the birth of their son, Casey Thomas, on Dec. 31, 1997. Elena Kouri-Driscoll is now an assistant professor of psychology in the department of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, Cambridge, Mass. Gregory G. Lynch is a child/adolescent case manager for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health, Westboro, Mass. Wendy (Elder) Lynch and her husband, Sean, announce the birth of their daughter, Julia Helen, on Sept. 15, 1997. Patrick A. McDevitt and his wife, Kristine, announce the birth of their daughter, Bevin Kathleen, on Feb. 16. Patricia Moreis-Stiles and her husband, David, announce the birth of their son, David Lake III, on April 24. Susan C. Diverio became the finance manager for CNBC Ad Sales in New York City. Paul J. Englehart, who is in his fifth year of teaching at Syosset (N.Y.) High School, has also been coaching cross country and winter and spring track and field at the middle school and varsity levels. Mary Colleen (Cahill) Farley and her husband, Tim '85, announce the birth of their son, John Conor, on April 5. Martha Jane Keily Gagnon and her husband, Stephen, announce the birth of their son, Daniel Raymond, on May 23. Ronald G. George, who has passed the Massachusetts and New Hampshire state bar exams, maintains a private law practice in Plaistow, N.H. Kathleen (Reilley) Izzo and her husband, John, announce the birth of their son, Matthew Joseph, on Jan. 5, 1998. James L. Januzzi Jr., M.D., and his wife, Roberta, announce the birth of their daughter, Caterina Maria, on Dec. 15, 1997. Januzzi is currently a cardiology fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Kathryn M. Partan is now the director of development for Boston Lyric Opera. In August, Maj. Joseph R. Perlak, USMC, was promoted to his present rank by Assistant Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps Gen. Richard I. Neal at a ceremony which took place at Marine Corps headquarters in the Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Perlak, who is an attorney, has been assigned to the Counsel for the commandant's office for the past two years. J.D. Rehm Jr. has been named advertising manager of New York-based Redbook magazine. Claire M. Rogers, who received her degree from the Columbia University Business School in May, has accepted a position in institutional equity sales with Schroder & Co., Inc. in New York City. Carol M. and David P. Ryan, M.D., announce the birth of their daughter, Delia Catherine, on May 10. David, who recently accepted a position as a junior faculty member at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, is focusing on gastrointestinal cancer. John F. Sweeney is the director, strategic new business development, for Fidelity Investments in Boston. Michael R. Treanor Jr. and his wife, Lisa '89, announce the birth of their daughter, Megan Casey, on Nov. 12, 1997. John E. Zajac, who is a shareholder in the firm of Carmichael & Zajac in Taunton, Mass., specializes in civil, commercial and criminal litigation, bankruptcy law, and estate planning. James L. Zanuzzi, M.D., and his wife, Roberta, announce the birth of their daughter, Caterina Maria, on Dec. 15, 1997. Zanuzzi is a second-year cardiology fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Jeffrey K. Zawacki, M.D., and his wife, Laura '90, announce the birth of their daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth, on Feb. 11, 1998.

Nancy Losordo Clinton works for Boston University Medical School as the administrator of the Whitaker Cardiovascular Institute. Laura L. Gaze has been named vice president and director of marketing with American Savings Bank, New Britain, Conn. Dennis J. Golden and his wife, Jennifer '90, announce the birth of their son, Matthew Peter, on May 8. Golden is currently teaching at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Md. Brendan P. Grady and his wife, Lucia, announce the birth of their daughter, Murphy Grennan, on Feb. 27, 1998. Maurice H. (Trip) Hartigan III is an attorney in the litigation department of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York City. Cathleen Campbell Hughes, M.D., and her husband, Mark, announce the birth of their daughter, Kristin Ashley, on May 12. After completing her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Hartford Hospital in June 1997, Hughes joined a group practice affiliated with Hartford Hospital and UCONN Health Center. Elizabeth McNamara and Karl J. Liwo announce the birth of their son, Brian Patrick, on July 23. Elizabeth is a development associate with Hallmark Health in Melrose, Mass. Karl is a real estate attorney with Mullin Law Offices in Boston. Jennifer Wilson Matthews and her husband, Elmer, announce the birth of their son, Brian Patrick, on Dec. 18, 1997. Matthews is a management supervisor with Wunderman Cato Johnson in New York City. Diana Blaney Sabados is a senior research associate at Institutional Investor Inc. Capt. Kevin M. Schmiegel, USMC, received his master of science degree in management from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, Calif. His next tour of duty is in Quantico, Va., as a manpower systems analyst. Lisa Dodman Treanor and her husband, Michael '88, announce the birth of their daughter, Megan Casey, on Nov. 12, 1997. Suzanne (Sweeny) Votapka and her husband, Glen, announce the birth of their son, William Glen, on April 28.
