recipient of two prestigious awards in November.
The Infectious Diseases Society of America, at its annual meeting held in Denver,
Colo., presented him with its highest honor, the 1998 Bristol Award, given in
recognition of his contributions to the field of infectious diseases. The British
Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy presented him with the Lawrence Paul Garrod
Award at its annual meeting held in Manchester, England. Dr. Andriole delivered
the "Garrod
Lecture" at the meeting; the title of his talk was "Current and Future Antifungal
Therapy: New Targets for Antifungal Agents." John S.T. (Jack) Gallagher has been
named chief executive officer of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System
in Great Neck, N.Y. In May 1997, Joseph J. Kirby retired as chairman and chief
executive officer of Washington Trust
Bancorp Inc., after 34 years of service.

John Kenney relocated to Glen Arbor, Mich., some years ago.
He has built and opened a hardware store in this resort
community and, according to mutual friends, has become
a fixture there. The hardware store also serves as his

Lou Cumming, when last known, was regional vice president
for South Orange Country Bank, an independent community
bank. He also continues to serve as
an emeritus board member for the San Diego Rescue Mission.
Paul Cox, a trial attorney in Dover, N.H., last year was
one of 10 finalists to be nominated for the Trial Lawyer
of the Year award. This award is bestowed
annually upon the trial lawyer who made a significant contribution to the public
interests in a precedent-setting case. Paul is a senior partner in the Dover,
N.H., firm of Burns, Bryant, Hinchey, Cox & Rockefeller.
Tom Scozzafava and his wife, Barbara, live in Southbury,
Conn. Tom owns Newtown Cleaners in Newtown, Conn., and
his son is in business with him.
In speaking with John Wirth recently, he informed me that Tom Henehan has returned
from South America and is at the Maryknoll headquarters in Ossining, N.Y.,
at present. John is an attorney in White Plains with The Wirth Law Firm, P.C.
John reported that Vinnie Promuto has sold his business and when last heard
from, was living on a boat in Florida.
Ron Gwozdz is senior vice president and managing director
of the large international sales for Fleet Investment Advisors
in Boston (mailing address: 75 State Street,
Boston, MA 02109). He is a past president of The Golf Club in Weston, Mass.
Tom Brennan, a director of the Hearst Family Trust, 888 7th
Ave., New York, NY 10106 (telephone 212-399-0888) is a
consistent source of information about
New York classmates. He just completed hosting the ninth annual Class of 1960
Metropolitan Area Christmas luncheon at the New York Athletic Club. Over the
years, anywhere from 18-40 members of the Class have attended the luncheon.
John Crowley, who now lives in Winchester, Mass. (telephone 617-225-3823),
also helps out with the arrangements. While speaking with Tom recently, he
pointed out the continued success of John Issa and his resort businesses in
Jamaica.
Bob Hunter, who is retired from the Air Force, was appointed,
some time ago, as vice chairman of the Major League Baseball
Players Alumni Association Advisory
Board. Bob has been affiliated with the Association since its inception and
has advised on public news and information policies and practices. Indeed,
Bob has had two careers - retiring from the Air Force where he last served
as director of public affairs for the Air Force Academy - and then retired
from Comsat Corporation where he had been director of Corporate Communications.
He has homes in Sarasota, Fla., and Cape Cod and continues to be an independent
consultant. I assume Bob can be reached through the Association's headquarters
in St. Petersburg, Fla. (telephone 813-822-3399).
Also in the area of public relations, John (Jake) Kelleher,
a few years ago, joined Bullard McLeod & Associates Inc. of Albany, N.Y., as director of
corporate relations in charge of business development and community relations.
For about 13 years prior thereto, Jake served as secretary of the New York
State Public Service Commission and, even prior to that, as deputy commissioner
and general counsel of the New York State Department of Commerce.
Some of you may remember Donald Ward went into the Jesuits.
He is currently living in Camden, N.J., at Holy Name Rectory.
Peter Fallon is completing his term as president of the Union
Club, Park Street, Boston, one of the oldest social clubs
in the city. He continues to live in
Scituate, Mass.; he and his wife, Ellen, who has been very active at the Museum
of Fine Arts, have a home on Marlborough Street in Boston.
Dick Lamontagne lives in Norwell, Mass., and is the financial
officer for a local civil engineering firm, Coler & Colantonio, in Hingham, Mass.
Chuck Comeau retired as a captain from American Airlines
earlier this year. He continues as an investment advisor
for pilots and lives at Amelia Island,
Fla., with his wife, Suzanne.
As for myself, I continue to live in Hingham, Mass. I left
a large law firm about five years ago to join some of my
younger partners and get back into
a smaller practice (Conn, Kavanaugh, Rosenthal, Peisch, & Ford, Ten Post

a bereavement and crisis counselor for Compassionate Care Hospice in Clifton,

Cook Zebrowski LLP, has been added to the faculty of Suffolk University Law
School as an adjunct professor teaching sports law. He has also been a guest
lecturer at the New England School of Law and Northeastern University's Center
for Sports and Society in Boston. Jeanne L. DelSignore, M.D., has been appointed
chief of the orthopaedic department at the Genesee Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.
DelSignore, who is a clinical associate professor of orthopedic surgery at
the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, specializes in
surgery and rehabilitation of the hand and upper extremities. In September,
Joseph M. (Joe) Shortsleeve, news anchor for News 4 New England on WBZ-4, was
the guest speaker at the Woburn (Mass.) Business Association's 14th annual
