Paul Covino of the chaplains’ office has been chosen
to serve as a member of the Catholic Common Ground Initiative
Committee. A member of the Holy Cross chaplains’ office
since 1993, Covino, a noted liturgist, has served on many
committees, including the Pastoral Planning Steering Committee
in the Diocese of Worcester.
Founded by the late Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, the committee
was formed in “a
new effort at dialogue in the church in which the polarizing of tendencies is
not allowed to obscure the common ground that exists within the Church.” It
was his goal to create an environment in which different sections of the church
could come together on “common ground” and discuss the direction
of the church before a more serious split took place. |
