the Year" by the Massachusetts Bar Association, an honor he is sharing with state
Rep. John Slattery of Peabody. John G. Bagley, who is a partner in the law firm
of Egan, Flanagan & Cohen in Springfield, Mass., has been elected president
of the Hampden County Bar Association. Lt. Col. Kent B. Duffy, USA, and his wife,
Susan, announce the birth of their daughters, Maile Grace on April 26, 1996 and
Makena Jane on Oct. 3, 1997, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Chris M. Duggan, who lives
in Southern California, owns his own construction company that specializes in
commercial high-rise tenant improvements. The Rev. John F. Madden III, who has
served as headmaster of Holy Name High School in Worcester since 1991, has been
named temporary administrator of Our Lady of Jasna Gora Parish in Clinton, Mass.

Paul F. Haley, M.D., has been
named chief of psychiatry at Holyoke (Mass.) Hospital. The Boston HealthNet recently
named Glennon J. O'Grady, M.D., to the position of associate medical director.
O'Grady, who will continue working in his current position as vice chairman for
clinical services at Boston Medical Center's department of family medicine, is
also an assistant professor of family medicine at the Boston University School
of Medicine. Patricia A. Veiga, M.D., and her husband, Bradley, announce the
birth of their son, Collin Matthew, on April 8.

of Manila. Deidre (Croghan) and David C. Fisher, M.D., announce the birth of
their daughter, Grace Dalton, on Oct. 23, 1997. David E. Haracz and his wife,
Mary Dolan, announce the birth of their son, Walter Haas, on Jan. 27. Haracz
is a supervising attorney with the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago. Mary
Sheila E. McDonald and her husband, Bob, announce the birth of their daughter,
Kiersten Killeen, on June 4, 1997. John P. McHugh, a partner in the Hartford,
Conn., law firm of Cranmore, Fitzgerald & Meaney, was elected to the board
of selectmen for the town of Colchester in November. In May, Jacqueline McNiff
Regan, coordinator of religious education at St. John the Baptist Parish in Peabody,
Mass., was one of four individuals honored by Bishop Fenwick High School, also
in Peabody, for contributions made to the high school and the Catholic community
of the North Shore.

and counsel for the Massachusetts Sports Partnership, a Boston-based
organization that attracts,
manages and markets major professional and amateur sporting events throughout
Massachusetts. He is also co-founder and director of S.C.O.R.E. Boston, an inner-city
youth hockey program. Deirdre Walsh Crowell and her husband, Dick, announce the
birth of their daughter, Grace Mary, on Dec. 19. Peter F. Dunne and his wife,
Wendy, announce the birth of their daughter, Margaret Elizabeth, on Jan. 2. Tracy
A. Fagan and her husband, Art Duffy, announce the birth of their daughter, Baelyn
Irene, on March 31. David A. Gavoor is now with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jennette
in New York City as a vice president in the loan syndications group; he sells
bank debt, real estate as well as corporate. David J. Grain, who is currently
the vice president of the global high yield group at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co.
in New York City, was the featured speaker in June at Honors Night which was
held at his alma mater, Martha's Vineyard (Mass.) Regional High School. Michael
T. Hally, with John P. Hally '82, and two other managers, recently purchased
Folio Exhibits Inc., a custom exhibit company located in Worcester. Julie A.
Halpin, who had worked for Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising in New York City
for 12 years, recently left the firm to create The Geppetto Group, a child and
teen advertising agency; she is now its chief executive officer. William J. Hanlon
was recently elected a member of the Boston law firm of Goldstein & Manello.
Hanlon, who has been with the firm since 1992, concentrates his practice in bankruptcy
and commercial litigation. Michael J. Kennedy and his wife, Robin, announce the
adoption of their son, Timothy Michael, born on Dec. 10. Paul M. Kukulka and
his wife, Marianne (Gatto) '85, announce the birth of their daughter, Kathleen
Grace, on Oct. 29, 1997. Kukulka is now a competitive marketing consultant with
Mass Mutual, Hartford, Conn., in its DI product management division. Nancy (Kitson)
Schnell is now working part time as a press secretary for a local senator in
Long Island, N.Y.

(Fennelly) Boyce and her husband, Charles, announce the birth of their daughter,
Maggie, on May 28, 1997. Kevin D. Browne is a creative director at Young & Rubicam
Advertising in New York City. Linda (Benedetto) Cozzens, M.D., and her husband,
Jim, announce the birth of their daughter, Julia Tami, on May 31, 1997. Cozzens
is working as a pediatrician at the Southboro (Mass.) Medical Group. Lisa (Maiolo)
Daley and her husband, John, announce the birth of their son, John Alexander
III, on March 19. Margarett Perry Dykstra, the general manager of the roller
rinks at the Chelsea Piers in New York City, recently spoke at a forum entitled "Focus
on Women," sponsored by the Brooklyn Women's Services in honor of women's history
month. Elizabeth (Lisa) Hayes and her husband, Arnoud Philip Waller, announce
the birth of their son, Bastiaan Frits, on Sept. 7, 1997. Hayes, who has been
living in Amsterdam, Holland, for the past seven years, now works for a nonprofit
health organization, Health Action International. Mary E. Herlihy-Knittle, who
works part time as a mortgage originator for Fleet Bank, is also in charge of
the youth ministry program at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Worcester. The
Rev. Michael F.X. Hinckley, parochial vicar of St. Ann Parish in New Britain,
Conn., and frequent spokesman for the Archdiocese of Hartford on ethics in dying,
spoke in March at an adult faith formation program at St. Ann Church in Avon
on end-of-life issues. He also wrote an article, "Technology and Human Dignity," for
the May issue of the Catholic Transcript. Kathleen M. Lyons is currently working
at Putnam Investments in Boston. Mark T. Maybury is director of the Mitre Corp.
Advanced Information Systems Center in Bedford, Mass. Laura Hines O'Connor and
her husband, Chuck '78, announce the birth of their daughter, Kaleigh Keegan,
on April 7. James J. Ostromecky, D.D.S., who maintains a private practice in
Spencer, Mass., recently volunteered his services at the Spirit of God dental
clinic in Bosnia Herzegovina. Thomas M. Patton and his wife, Nancy, announce
the birth of their son, Mitchell Thomas, on Dec. 29. Patton is now president
and chief executive officer of Wright Medical Technology Inc., an orthopedic
medical device company in Memphis, Tenn. Nancy McCarthy Phelan and her husband,
John, announce the birth of their daughter, Keneally Elizabeth, on July 5, 1997.
Kathleen Quinlan Regnier and her husband, John, announce the birth of their son,
Noah Patrick, on Dec. 3. Regnier is now assistant executive director of the Accreditation
Council for Continuing Medical Education in Chicago, Ill. Timothy M. Royston
and his wife, Betsey, announce the birth of their son, John Paul II, on Feb.
24. Robert J. Ryan and his wife, Karin '89, announce the birth of their daughter,
Kathleen Erin, on April 7. Patricia (Fallon) Sweet and her husband, John, announce
the birth of their son, Daniel Anthony, on March 15. Ruthellen (Lippy) Thompson
and her husband, Jeffrey, announce the birth of their daughter, Katie Samantha,
on June 9, 1997. Thompson is a national accounts manager with Noise Cancellation
Technologies in Raleigh, N.C. Jeanine Padala Toes and her husband, James, announce

of art history at Union College, Schenectady, N.Y., recently presented a lecture
entitled "Impressionism in Context: Pissarro's Comrades and their Practices of
Painting," at the Albany (N.Y.) Institute of History and Art. Ann-Marie Roca
Fricano received her master of science in nursing degree in May from the MGH
Institute of Health Professions at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
Mary Ann (Woodford) Klein and her husband, Matthew, announce the birth of their
daughter, Allison Christine. Stephen F. McGonigle, who teaches history at the
Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, Mass., was recently named head varsity
football coach at the school; he is also the head winter track coach and assistant
boys' spring track coach. Gina (Guarino) Ryan and her husband, Peter, announce
the birth of their son, Patrick John, on March 9. Jeannie Haas Shields and her
husband, Patrick, announce the birth of their identical twins, Carolyn Marie
and Erin Claire, on March 12. Sharon P. Siegel has joined the law firm of Mirick
O'Connell, which has offices in Worcester and Boston, as an associate in its
labor and employment practice group; she will concentrate her practice on employment
law and general civil litigation. Lt. Cmdr. Karen A. Tsiantas, who is flag aide
to the rear admiral commander of Naval base San Diego, was promoted to her current
rank in April.

in New York City. Kristen E. Keefe, who received her degree from Temple University
School of Law, Philadelphia, Pa., in May 1997, is now doing civil rights law

Ralph E. Laird and his wife, Trina, announce the birth of their daughter, Tegan
Elizabeth, on Jan. 16. Laird is an attorney in Sacramento, Calif. Jean Haggerty
McGrath, coordinator of the newspaper in education program for the Sheraton (Pa.)
Times-Tribune newspapers, has been appointed to the board of trustees of Friendship
House, a regional provider of behavioral healthcare and protective services for
troubled children throughout Pennsylvania. Ann Reichard and Sean T. McHugh announce
the birth of their daughter, Kathryn Ann, on July 27, 1997. Lauren A. McLaughlin
is now vice president of production of Lions Gate Films in New York City. Steven
J. Meurer is currently an associate vice president at the University of Pittsburgh
(Pa.) Medical Center-Shadyside Hospital, where he oversees 13 hospital departments.
Thomas J. Onofrey, who completed his graduate and postdoctoral studies at the
University of California-Irvine, is now a senior research scientist at Nanogen
Inc. in San Diego. Peter C. Park, M.D., is currently finishing his family practice
residency in Olympia, Wash. Heather M. Ross is currently working for Putumayo
World Music, a world music record label in New York City. Karin (Fornes) Ryan
and her husband, Bob '86, announce the birth of their daughter, Kathleen Erin,
on April 7. Philipe A. Springuel, who lives in Brussels, Belgium, represents
a high-tech research think tank. He advises electronics corporations and governments
and continues to design entrepreneurship programs in North Africa.
