Retired Holy Cross Professor Walter T. Odell, 71, died Aug.
26 in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a short illness.
Mr. Odell, who had taught in the political science department at Holy Cross for
26 years, retired in 1995; his area of expertise was Catholic political theory.
A former Trappist monk, he was a third-order Blackfriar. Mr. Odell was a graduate
of Princeton
University; he earned his master's degree from Oxford University in England and
his Ph.D. from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
He is survived by his wife,
Ann; two sons, including John W. '88; a daughter, Kathleen E. '89; a stepson;
a stepdaughter; a brother; and seven grandchildren.
