Joseph J. Garamella, M.D., a thoracic cardiovascular
surgeon who has maintained a practice for many years in Minneapolis,
Minn., is now working in the area of thoracolumbar medicine. Cornelius
V. McGillicuddy, alumni moderator at Canisius High
School in Buffalo, N.Y., is now in his 38th year as statistician
for the Buffalo Bills. Three years ago, he was appointed
official historian for the team.

for administration of the Diocese of Brooklyn, was the recipient
of the Catholic Medical Center's 1997 Faithful Steward Award. Maurice
J. Lonsway Jr., M.D., retired pediatrician, was
honored by the Washington University Medical School and the
St. Louis, Mo., Children's Hospital as the recipient of the
Distinguished Service Award. Frisbie Memorial Hospital in
Rochester, N.H., honored Alexander C. Smith, M.D., for his
45 years of medical service to the community at a retirement
reception held in September.

In October, Robert J. Bond Jr. retired
from Romac International in Boston after 30 years of service. Thomas
G. Conway, an attorney in private practice, was
appointed a member of the College Council of SUNY-New Paltz. W.
Lawrence Drew, M.D., a physician at Mt. Zion Medical
Center of UCSF in San Francisco, was named Physician of the
Year by the hospital. He also was elected to the American
Board of Internal Medicine and was named a fellow of the
American Academy of Microbiology. Mark Goddard is
a teacher at F.L. Chamberlain School in Middleboro, Mass. Francis
G. Grather, a partner in Broderick Newmark & Grather,
Morristown, N.J., was elected president of the 1200-member
Morris County Bar Association for 1998. Rev. Robert
A. Grattaroti, pastor of St. Joseph Church in Charlton
City, Mass., celebrated the 35th anniversary of his ordination
to the priesthood in November. In November, Kenneth
F. Happe, associate professor of classics at Holy
Cross and theater critic for Worcester Magazine, received
a regional achievement award for his contributions to area
theater from the New England Theatre Conference. David
M. McKeon, a marriage and family therapist in Rockwall,
Texas, received the Distinguished Service Award after the
completion of a two-year term as co-president of the Association
for Image Relationship Therapy. In November, he was honored
by Truax Foundation at Texas A&M University, Commerce,
as an outstanding alumnus of the counseling department. Gerald
F. McLaughlin is press secretary to New York state
Sen. John J. Marchi of Staten Island. Alfred E. Pfoertner, who
retired from Scott Paper Co. in Louisville, Kentucky, is
a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker All Star Real Estate
in Destin, Fla. He earned the Certified Residential Relocation
Specialist designation in September. William B. Strong,
M.D., pediatric cardiologist at the Medical College
of Georgia in Augusta, was the recipient of the Endowed Chair
Distinguished Faculty Award. He is also founder and director
of the Georgia Prevention Institute, director of Health Promotion
Disease Prevention curriculum and director of Community Research.

Valley Deanery of the diocese. He has oversight of 15 parishes
and serves as a member of the Diocesan Executive Council
and as council liaison to the Christian Formation Commission. Vincent
J. Dolan Jr. is senior vice president of Buckingham
Research in New York City. Eugene F. McMahon retired
from Ernst & Young on Sept. 30.

Greater New Bedford, Mass. George C. Finley Jr., president
of Finley Associates Inc., in Glastonbury, Conn., has been
named a corporator of the Farmington (Conn.) Savings Bank.
In May, Philip T. McLaughlin, an attorney
with McLaughlin, Hemeon & Lahey in Laconia, N.H., was
appointed attorney general of New Hampshire. Thomas
J. Parciak and his wife, Marianne, announce the
birth of their son, Matthew Thomas, on July 30.

L. McGuirk Jr., M.D., has been named executive medical
director of Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in Overland Park,
Kan. C. Brendan Montano, M.D., has published
a paper, "Impact of Panic Disorder in Managed Care Setting," in
Medical Interface. Stacy L. Moore Jr. is
a partner in the Marlton, N.J., law firm of Parker, McCay & Criscuolo. Thomas
C. Strekas was elected chairman of the department
of chemistry and biochemistry at the City University of New

J. (Frank) Kittredge is the owner of Kittredge Insurance
Agency Inc., in Northboro, Mass. Capt. John B. Noll,
USN, is chief staff officer, Regional Support Group,
in Mayport, Fla. The exhibition, "Compound Fracture," shown
Nov. 7 to Dec. 21 at the Houston (Texas) Center for Photography,
was dedicated to Edward J. Osowski for his
four years of service as president of the board. In April
1997, Lawrence R. Smith led a group of Chicago
attorneys to Nottingham, England, to present a trial demonstration
of a products liability pharmaceutical case to the Association
of Insurance and Risk Managers Conference. In October, he
was involved in forming the law firm of O'Hagan, Smith & Amundsen,
a litigation and insurance practice comprised of 55 attorneys
with offices in Chicago and five suburban locations.

named treasurer of the company. John J. Schweska, who

Michael C. Dubik, M.D., USN, was guest speaker at
the "Frontiers in Pediatrics" educational symposium held
in San Antonio, Texas and sponsored by the American Academy
of Pediatrics. He is professor of pediatrics at the Uniformed
Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md. Mary
R. McNally-Gutierrez is supervisor of production
accounting for CBS Television in Los Angeles, Calif. In April
1997, the Creative Attic published three books written by Nina
M. Riccio and illustrated by Beth Blair. Five Kids
and a Monkey Banish the Stinkies,Five Kids and a Monkey Solve
the Great Cupcake Caper, and Five Kids and a Monkey Investigate
a Vicious Virus, offer lessons in health and hygiene for
children aged seven through 11. The Boston-based commercial
