Teaching
awards presented
The annual Holy Cross faculty awards were presented at a
convocation on Sept. 26. Faculty and administrators gathered
in the Brooks Concert Hall for an address by the College
president, Rev. Michael C. McFarland, S.J. Stephen C. Ainlay,
vice president for academic affairs and dean of the College,
presented the Distinguished Teaching Award to William A.
Green, professor of history. The award honors faculty who
have demonstrated the College's commitment to teaching and
personalized instruction, making ideas come alive for students
both in and out of the
classroom.
Ainlay also presented the Raymond J. Swords, S.J., Faculty Medal to Rev. Lionel
Honoré, S.J., associate professor of French, Victoria L. Swigert, assistant
dean, and Charles S. Weiss, director of grants, foundation & corporate giving.
The Swords Medal honors those members of the faculty who have served the College
for 25 years or more. It is named in honor of Fr. Swords, 28th president of Holy
Cross.
