Francis C. Nichols, M.D., and his wife, Judy Ann, announce
the birth of their daughter, Emily, on Feb. 29. Nichols is
now the assistant professor of surgery, division of thoracic
surgery, at the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minn. John P.
Sinnott, who continues to work for the New York County Family
Court, has been appointed deputy chief-interstate child support
unit. The Phelps Dodge Copper Products Co. recently announced
the promotion of William J. Spellman Jr. to the position
of vice president, in addition to his current duties as general
manager of the company's continuous-cast copper rod and wire
plant in Norwich, Conn.

now a senior vice president with Robinson Lerer & Montgomery, a strategic
communications consulting firm in New York City; his responsibilities include
investor relations and financial communications. Therese "Teri" Magnier-Forand
and her husband, Mike, announce the birth of their son, John Edward, on Dec.
27. Patricia J. Sommers and her husband, Brian, announce the birth of their daughter,
Alison Nicole, on Nov. 25, 1999. The Peace Development Fund, Amherst, Mass.,

admissions for the Easton Lincoln Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in North
Easton, Mass. David E. Haracz and his wife, Mary, announce the birth of their
son, Henry Dolan, on Oct. 30, 1999. Brian P. Kelley currently serves as Ford
Motor Co.'s president for Internet strategy. Matthew P. Kelley and his wife,
Susan '84, announce the birth of their son, Michael James, on May 10. Kelley
is the chief financial officer for an advertising firm. Cmdr. Gail P. Kulish,
USCG, who recently was promoted to the rank of commander, is now the commanding
officer, Coast Guard Atlantic Strike Team, a special unit for oil and chemical
spill response. Kulish was recently awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and
Coast Guard Commendation Medal. Amy S. Lawler and her husband, Tom, announce
the birth of their daughter, Fiona Aisling, on Feb. 29. Kathleen E. McCarthy
is now with the
New York City law firm of Morgan & Finnegan as of counsel, specializing in
trademark and copyright law. James F. Queenan III, D.O., who completed his orthopedic
residency in New York last year, has joined Southeast Kansas Orthopedics in Chanute.
Francis E. "Frank" Raymond III is now serving as an economist in the Rubel School
of Business at Bellarmine College in Louisville, Ky. Joseph J. Stavola, M.D.,
and his wife, Jeanne '84, announce the birth of their son, William John, on March
14. Stavola is currently associate professor of clinical pediatrics, division
of pediatric infectious disease-Weill Cornell Medical College at New York Presbyterian
Hospital.

Adequate Education and Education Finance Advisory Committee. She is also a member
of the Commission on Charitable Giving and Volunteerism in New Hampshire. In
May, John T. Murphy was named the chief operating officer of TIS Worldwide. Fred
J. O'Connor has joined Diamond Technology Partners Inc., Chicago, Ill., as a
partner for business development and strategic relationship management. James
J. O'Reilly Jr. and his wife, Kris, announce the birth of their son, Patrick
James, on Nov. 8, 1999. Elaine Fisher Phipps and her husband, David, announce
the birth of their daughter, Julie Fisher, on March 18. Phipps is a director

on May 23. Karen I. Mohr, who recently completed her Ph.D. in hydrology at the
University of Texas at Austin, accepted a position as assistant professor of
earth and atmospheric
sciences at SUNY-Albany. Martha N. "Meg" Moore and her husband, Michael, announce
the birth of their twins, Katherine Grace and Thomas Christopher, on Oct. 28,
1999. Moore is a vice president with the General Reinsurance Corp. in Philadelphia,
Pa. Maura E. Murphy and her husband, Michael, announce the birth of their daughter,
Caroline Murphy, on Nov. 6, 1999. Murphy is the director of the Boston law firm

Kevin J. O'Connell has become a partner in the Boston law firm of Posternak,
Blankstein & Lund. In July, President Clinton named Mark K. Shriver a member
of the President's Council on Mental Retardation; he has been serving as a member
of the Maryland State House of Delegates since 1994.

wife, Maureen '89, announce the birth of their daughter, Sydney Catherine, on
Aug. 18, 1999. Elizabeth (Bolduc) Murphy, M.D., and her husband, Edward '87,
announce the birth of their son, Daniel Ryan, on Feb. 17. Murphy is a physician
in the department of internal medicine and primary care at the University of
Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester. Adrienne F. Nelson has received her
master of public administration degree in environmental management from the Kean
College of New Jersey in Union. Maj. Joseph R. Perlak, USMC, was recently awarded
the Joint Service Commendation Medal for service in the U.N. Iraq-Kuwait Observation
Mission; Perlak served as a military observer in the demilitarized zone between
Iraq and Kuwait, established as part of the truce in the Gulf War. Patricia Daly
